Later that day at night.
"Patibabu....." Bondita sweetly called Anirudh before entering their study with a cup of coffee in her hand. A heavy task on her shoulder to pacify her husband for something well-nigh unobtainable.
"Come in Bondita...."
Bondita heard him calling her out but she hardly could find him wandering her eyes everywhere. After some futile attempts, her orbs halted on the chair of the desk that was turned to the opposite side, making its back face her.
White diaphanous curtains dancing in background with a full moon in view from the open windows.
Oh, so the king had its own pose? She chuckled mentally.
"Looks like barrister babu is too much busy with his case today...." Bondita mischievously said and walked upto him and stood beside him keeping the tray on the desk "Your coffee patibabu."
"Thank you Bondita...." He replied while Bondita expected him to look towards her but seems all her dreams were ment to be dreams only. He had been ignoring her gaze unintentionally all the time, rather they preferred to be indulge in the file he had kept in his lap.
"Are you upset?" Bondita softly asked and slowly sat on the arm of the chair he was leaning on, taking him by surprise. It was really hard to find a women so bold to sit by her husband like this. He finally let the file aside and looked back in her deep black kohl lined eyes.
"No Noyontara..." He endeared her very sweetly. Noyontara it means star of eye. She was indeed his star. Star of his eye.
"Huh?" Bondita gasped at his sudden endearment.
"You like the name? Noyon?" He husked, his left hand slowly entwining with her right one as she was sitting caressing his left side.
Bondita slowly downed her lashes and nodded timidly. "Its beautiful.... But am I your Noyon? Your eye?" She asked, butterflies playing in her tiny tummy.
"Yes... You are my eye I see this world with. You are my eyes who makes it possible for me to see this prismatic world. Aren't you?"
"I am ready to be everything for you. Cause I am for you..."
"Come here...." He asked darkly tugging at her hand. She perplexly looked at his sitting figure and asked, "where?"
"Sitting on this arm must be uncomfortable. You have better place to sit on...." His gaze dark, yet humble as he indicted her to sit on lap. Though his intention was just to hold her, yet the actions were much more than it could have ever been.
Not understanding his hinted words, Bondita said innocently, "Its fine barrister babu... It is cosy enough." He internally groaned. Was it really necessary to vocalize everything placidly?
"I guess not more than my lap." He finally moaned his words. "What?" Bondita whispered stupefying, her eyes distended wide.
"I mean if you wish... You can come & sit near me... We can talk for sometime..." He couldn't order her anymore. What if she was not willing for this closeness? She was a girl and her consent meant everything.
For Anirudh, the equation of their relationship had changed a lot. He had slowly accepted Bondita in every way there a man could accept a women, precisely his wife. But it was never expressed in form of action. There is time, he believed, for her to be mature and lead their relationship the way she really want. He wanted her to take the first step thus always stepped back when he felt he crossed a line. She was young by age, naive at heart & he a grown up man at the same time mature enough. He couldn't rush with this. What if breaks the sanity of their loving bond?
Bondita was in utter shock when she grasped his meaning. Why was he inviting this emotions & moments when ultimately there is only heartbreak at the end? She couldn't lie to herself how much she loved him, even though she had been rejected by him already at the age of 13. She was scared of his rejection again. Not the rejection actually, but it was painful for her to listen the words again her heart already knew. It was similitude to lacerate back her old wounds, turning them new flesh again.
After Manorama had left their life, they had reconciled for the best. For Bondita, her relation was limited only upto being his responsibility and for Anirudh it had broken all the chains claiming her only to be responsibility. One reinforced walls around her heart and one uncaged his heart from those walls.
Ironically equilibrium state always existed.
Bondita fell silent so do Anirudh. Both avoiding each others eye to meet. To dodge the clodhopping situation, Bondita chuckled forcefully and replied, "ohho patibabu.... Its an shameless act. How can I sit on your lap?"
"Why can't you?" Words slipped from his mouth immediately, too late for redemption. But he really wanted to know her provision. Was it really the only reason that she found it shameless & didn't want to sit on his lap? Or she want to push away their closeness?
"How can any girl sit on a man's lap?" She asked embarrassment gripping her hard. She wanted to jump of the arm and dash away from the study. But alas their hands were entwined. She made abortive attempts to set her hand free but he was loath to leave.
"You are my wife & I am your man..." He said in a low tone yet in a stern voice, erupting cold creeps throughout her body.
"Coffee turning cold..." She changed the topic hesitantly.
"With your hands & you on my lap..." His final words.
Where will this night lead to?
