Tragedy in Hawkins

Chrissy's POV

It was finally Friday morning, I woke up 15 minutes earlier than Eddie so I could do my make-up. I rolled out of bed feeling super nauseous, I dashed to the bathroom and puked up last night's pizza dinner. I threw up everything in my stomach for 5 minutes, luckily I knew Eddie was still sleeping. I stood up flushing the toilet then wiped the seat clean so I could go to the bathroom. I grabbed a tampon from the sink drawer because I was to expect my period this week. Much to my surprise... I was late. Maybe I have my days wrong? 

I washed my hands and face and went to the room to change. I looked at the calendar on my wall and I was right, I do have my days wrong. The only problem is, I was supposed to have my period two weeks ago... I thought back to the first time I had it with Eddie and the dates match up. My eyes widen as I quietly head down the stairs and dial a number on the phone.  "Come on pick up," I thought as it rang. 

"Hello?" I groggy voice answered and I could finally breathe after what felt like forever. "Hey, it's Chrissy... I know it's early and you probably didn't expect to hear from me but, I need your help," I said anxiously waiting for a response. "What is it? Are you having visions again? Hearing clocks?" The voice said and I closed my eyes. "No, I uh... I'm late and I've been throwing up," I said and there was an awkward silence for a moment.

"Oh, shit... uhh I'll ask Nancy for a test I know she has some just in case she forgets to take her birth control. Meet me in the girl's bathroom at school after the morning announcements." I sighed in relief and smiled a bit. "Thank you so much, you are a true lifesaver," I said hanging up the phone and heading back into the room. Eddie was sitting up in bed shirtless and still half asleep. "Where did you go?" he asked and I gave him a reassuring smile. "Bathroom," I said quickly changing and putting on some makeup as Eddie got ready.

Eddie grabbed us a small breakfast, while I threw on my shoes and then helped me to the car. I nervously clung to my bag as Eddie drove us to school listing to Metallica and eating his pop tart. I slowly munched on mine while looking out the window. Eddie could sense something was wrong but I could tell he didn't want to pry as he kept telling me how much he loved me and whatever was going on in my head he would always be by my side.

I knew Eddie would always be there for me no matter what, but I was scared that he'll think that I trapped him in some way because I said he didn't need a condom...The truth was, I just wanted him so badly I couldn't wait for him to put on protection. I watched the trees pass us as we drove through the forest that makes up the majority of Hawkins. Eddie had to make a slight detour though, due to a car accident that happened last night. We didn't watch the news but the officers directed us in a different direction.

At school, Eddie helped me out and walked me inside as usual. I heard more chatter in the halls than usual, it seems the stairs were directed away from me and Eddie though. I even heard some cries of some of the girls in the hall, mostly cheerleaders; honestly, I was the only cheerleader not crying. The bell rang and Eddie gave me a kiss and hug goodbye, he held me a little longer and tighter than normal, "I love you so much my beautiful rockstar," He said kissing me once more. "I love you too handsome," I smiled kissing him back and watching him head to his class. 

I took a seat in my normal spot and waited for the announcements and they came sooner than normal, "Hello Hawkins Tigers, tragedy has struck our town yet again. Last night at 8:17 pm, basketball captain Jason Carver and 3 of his teammates got in a car accident. Jason and 2 of his teammates died an hour later at the hospital," the girls on the loudspeaker said sending shivers down my spine. No wonder everyone was crying, they thought so highly of Jason but they don't know he got what he deserved. I didn't feel anything as they continue speaking about him.

Once the announcements were over, I had almost forgotten who I had to meet in the bathroom. I waited a few more minutes before asking my teacher to head to the bathroom. She gave me a sympathetic smile before telling me, "Of course dear, anything you need," I was so confused but I nodded and headed straight for the bathroom. Maybe she thought it was because I used to date Jason so that's why I seem on edge but if that's what's going to get me special treatment all day so be it. 

I  quickly opened the bathroom door and blocked it with a trash can so no one would bother us. "Max!" I said giving her a tight hug. " You have the test?" I ask and she nods pulling it out of her bag and handing it to me. "I'll wait right outside the stall," Max said and I nodded going into the stall and shutting it. The stall was the same one I was in the same day we met, I saw Max's red vans pacing back and forth as I peed on the little stick. (Yes I am aware pregnancy tests were different in the '80s but google isn't telling me how to use one)

I stepped out and set the test on the sink then sat on the floor. "Now we wait 20-30 minutes," I say and Max sits next to me and beings rubbing my back, "It'll be ok, if you are pregnant you have a great baby daddy!" Max said trying to make light of the situation. "I don't want a baby! I can't have a baby! Eddie is a great person but I know he doesn't want a kid either!" I said throwing my hands in the air. I put my head against the wall and Max stayed by my side the whole time; she nearly threw someone through the wall because they were trying to get in.

"Did you hear the news?" I asked her and she nodded, "It's shocking, I know, but the asshole got what he deserved," She said scooting in front of me holding my hands. "How are you and Jane?" I asked and she blushed thinking about her. "She's amazing. I'm always thinking about her like all the time and she is always wanting cuddles and to see me." She said with a smile on her face. "Hopper even likes me so he doesn't care how much time I spend with her and he lets me spend the night still even though he knows we're dating now." I smiled as Max talked about her girlfriend and distracted me from what I was dreading to find out. 

We were 10 minutes into the next class when Max's watch goes off signaling the test should be developed already. We both shot up and I grabbed the test looking at Max and then looking at the test. My heart raced as I examed it and then the box to see if it was negative or positive. Max and I staired together for a good solid 5 minutes before we both said in unison...
