"Of course he has."Ace says as I slowly inject another vile of venom into his arm.

He groans and huffs, his head falling back.

"I know that fucking teacher was fishy."he says.

"You think he's been teaching Cain to feed?"I ask.

He only nods, not speaking.

"You need to..talk to Cain.."he slurs.

I look down at the empty syringe in my hand.

"Does it hurt?"I ask.

He shakes his head.

"Feels like... morphine."he says.

"I'm sorry."I say.

"I know you're probably suffering, I hate for you to suffer."I say.

"I love that you're making me."he smiles.

"At least in here with you."

This makes me smile and I look down at my hands.

"I love you too."I smile.

....

I walk down the hall towards Cain's room. Once there I knock, and wait a bit.

"Come in."I hear him say softly.

I chuckle as I open the door.

I see him laying on the floor on his belly, coloring in his insect coloring book.

"Hi baby."I say, making him look up at me.

"Hi mommy."Cain smiles.

"Baby, I need to talk to you."I say, slowly sitting down on the ground next to him.

"What's wrong?"he asks.

"Baby, you know you can tell me anything, right? And no matter what it is that you tell me, I will always love you."she says softly.

Cain's face turns worried.

"So, is there anything you'd like to tell me?"

He thinks for a moment and then nods.

"What's going on?"I ask.

"Mommy, I have super powers."He whispers to me.

My throat goes dry.

"Superpowers?"I ask.

He nods, and then stands up.

"What kind of super powers?"I ask, slowly standing up.

"I can make people sleep."he says softly.

"M-make then sleep?"I say.

He nods.

"C-can you show me."I ask.

He shakes his head.

"I don't want you to sleep forever."he pouts.

My lips quiver and I cover my mouth.

"O-okay, hon. Let's get you to bed. Thank you so much for telling me."I say.

He gets into his bed and I pull his covers over his body.

"You are my most precious creation, Cain. I love you so much. I hope you know that in time."I say softly as I kiss his forehead.

He smiles and I poke his dimples.

"You're so special to me."I say, tears welling in my eyes.

"Don't be sad, why are you crying mommy?"he asks, placing his small hand on my cheek and making me smile softly.

"Because you're very special to your father too. And now he's trying to come back, and take you away from me."I say, tears streaming my cheeks.

"Take me away?"Cain says.

I nod.

"I love you so much."I say, kissing his forehead again and then standing.

"I'm not going to leave you mommy."he says.

I smile as I walk towards the door.

"Goodnight."I say, stepping out.

I close his bedroom door and my lips start to tremble and I put my hand over my chest, on the scar of the symbol Belial had carved into me years before.

It tingles when Belial is spoken about, or if he's near.

It tingles, when I entered Cain's room.

I shake my head and I clench my eyes closed, hoping what I was feeling was false.
