prologue (sort of)

"hey, hey el what's wrong?" max set down her comic and turned to face el. they had settled on el's bed.

"mike"

max rolled her eyes angry that dumbass hurt her feelings. "don't even think about mike, el he's not worth it." max reassured.

"it's not... fair" el stated almost confused. mike and the rest of the cali crew had left earlier that day to take a road-trip to hawkins.

"what can i say he's just another stupid boy and obviously can't see what's right in front of him." max stated. el smiled grabbing max's hand to hold.

"thank you"

max blushed and smiled back "of course" breaking their line of eye contact max picked the comic back up and began to read again.

"hey max?" el asked looking up from the redhead's shoulder.

"hm?"

"i heard you and will talking about... what was it? sexualities... what is sexualities?"

max stopped reading immediately in wonder that el would bring this up... of all topics. "well... sexualities are a way to express how you feel with different genders, like being gay or lesbian, but there are multiple different sexualities not just one."

el nodded her head slowly "what is... gay?"

"gay is liking the same gender usually a boy liking a boy and lesbian is girls liking girls." max explained looking at el to make sure she understood.

"is there a sexuality for... both?"

"yeah! it's called bisexuality, that's what i identify as" max added proudly.

"so you like girls and boys?"

"yeah" max smiled blushing slightly

"i think i like girls too" el stated feeling a rush of comfort flow through her as she thought about it more.

"that's great el! there's also other sexualities out there too and you can be more than one."

el nodded and nuzzled her head into max. "how is the rest of the gang?" el asked sad mike didn't bring her on the road-trip, but happy she got more time with max.

"eh they're fine, still really annoying but they haven't changed." max described "they all really miss you" she added.

el smiled and tapped her finger on the comic for max to start reading again. "when you go back tell them i miss them too."

"will do" max nodded picking up a new comic from the tall stack she brought "okay, i know you like wonder woman, but i think we need a change in pace." max stated showing el the cover of a new comic "now this is poison ivy she can control plants and she's a redhead like me."

"she's pretty... redheads are pretty" el admitted turning up to face max whose cheeks were cherry red.

"hah... um anyways poison ivy is technically a villain but she has a great story behind it."

"like the bad men?" el asked a sort of worry stuck on her face.

"not necessarily... she mostly attacks stupid boys" max lifted her eyebrows catching el's interest.

the two girls laughed and got back to the comic soon to be greeted with sleep.

"hey max" el nudged her shoulder

"what?" max rubbed her eyes they had just gone to sleep or... max had.

"you should be poison ivy next halloween." el suggested.

"oh yeah?" max a little surprised smiled to herself like a little girl.

"mhm"

"a green jumpsuit with leaves?"

"yeah it would be great" el smiled

"then you should be wonder woman" max replied

"that's a great idea!" el whispered a little too loudly

"it's definitely better then you and mike going as some zombies." max laughed to herself imagining mike as a dead corpse.

the two girls laughed filling the moonlit scape with warmth.
