Strange.

I arrived at school a little bit late. Yesterday's dinner was awkward at the most and quite uncomfortable. I was being stared at throughout and it made me lose my appetite along dinner.

The headache came back again,like someone was hammering a chisel right into my skull. My mom insisted I took pain-killers before heading to school.

Normally I waited for her to drive me to school,but today I didn't want her watching me. I got to school late for my first class and was walking quite fast to catch up. I made it to class only to find it empty. I asked around and I was told they were close to the woods right next to the school. I ran up to catch up with them and my headache seemed to be getting worse,I could barely see. I threw some pills down my throat and felt quite better.

It wasn't hard finding the group due to the series of chatter coming from the kids. I joined my best friend Luke and waited for the lesson to start......whatever it was.

"Hey man.". He greeted. "Thought you weren't going to join us".

"Me too". I replied. "Walked from the house today. The headache keeps coming and more painful than last". I groaned rubbing my head.

"Uh geez man sorry. I had my own share last week. Wasn't nice I tell you,but it will pass". Suddenly he looked quite distance,like he was trying to remember something out of that week.

But I came out of my thought when I felt I was being watched. I looked round to see if it was one of the student but it wasn't. I looked around more and I thought I noticed two glowing grey eyes staring at me through the leaves. I looked closely but was distracted by Luke,"Man you okay", he asked, "looks like you're seeing a wolf". He stated, a grin plastered on his face, but I didn't find it a bit funny. What if he knew? What if he was one of them? Or us? I thought to myself.

We were told to head back to school and class. Walking back,I got that feeling again. I turned back but  saw nothing. I needed answers and I would get them here. I made up a plan in my mind and I prayed to God it worked.

School passed by quite uninteresting. I was heading home when Luke ran up to me,"Man you sure you okay? You've been acting strange since you got to school". He asked, worry lacing his voice.

"I'm okay,just the headaches". I answered with a grin. "Like you said it'll pass. See you around Luke".I nodded before walking away.

"Alright man,but you take care of yourself"! He called out.

I seriously hoped this plan worked out. Something made me sure that the wolf would be there and I was getting my answers from him.

I got home and saw mum and dad talking. I wasn't in the mood for eavesdropping so I walked up to them and said hi. Mum and Dad really looked stressed out and I felt guilty it was because of me and my siblings.

"Hey son,how's school today"? He asked with a forced smile.

"Quite normal as usual". I paused, " Classes are coming in real good". I said with nothing less of a smile.

"And the headaches"? My mom asked.

"Gone. Stopped this morning". The lie came out just like that. I hated myself right then. I rarely lied to them. But it seemed they didn't take this one.

"Okay then kiddo,go rest, dinner would be ready soon". My mom said.

"Okay". I responded.

Getting to my room I looked out the the window. Dad didn't clear the whole forest,only space big enough for the people in the house. Very soon I'd put my plan to action but right after dinner. I wouldn't want to head out on an empty stomach and my stomach growled in agreement.

Shortly after the bell came........Dinner. Wished this one was less awkward. I went downstairs. The smell of waffles and egg sifted through the air. I welcomed it but was to focused to enjoy it. I ate dinner quite quite quickly and left the table,excusing myself of course.

All I had to do was wait one hour before I sneaked out. I checked my watch.......8:15pm it said. Better get some shut eye then.

Again I'm in the woods. I was quite concious of what I was now,running through the forest but it felt different. Then I heard a howl it was right behind me. I realized I'm being chased and run as fast as I can but it seemed I could not outrun this wolf. He was faster and more swifter. My eyes comes i n contact with a tree branch and I fall losing my footing. I try standing up but I couldn't. The wolf took strides to me and shifted to human form,his face hidden from me. He comes to view and I can see his face,he has an evil grin on them. Seeing the face shocks me. Luke.

I jerked awake. It can't be,my own best friend. I took it as mere dream because it might have to do with what he said earlier at school. I checked my watch.........10:15pm........I was suprised I slept that long. I was still sneaking to go out. Better late than never.

I decide to use the window and jump out,landing with a soft thud. Strangely I could see in the dark. Another sign I guessed. I walked over to the gate and jump over with ease that suprised me. I took the forest paths to school,at the very least unafraid. I got to school and admired how it look like at night. Like an old mesuem. I went round to the back of the school and walkef towards the woods. I walked to the exact spot where I saw the wolf. I looked around hoping to find it. No such luck. Then an idea comes to mind,it sounded stupid but I tried it anyway. I let out a long howl and to my suprise a howl came back. I howl again and it replied. I followed the howling sound and immediately I spotted wolf. But this one had hazelnut eyes and brown fur.

One thing about the werewolf I noticed is, it's not just ordinary wolves. They were much larger, the size of a full grown man. It spotted me and looks at me directly in the eye. I stay unflinching.

I knew it was a werwolf just by its size so I guessed he could probably understand English.

"Hey". I spoke up. Somehow it felt strange but I continued,"My name's Max, I know you are werewolf and you understand me. I am having symptoms of being a werewolf so I'd like to know more about me or us. And I would really appreciate if you shifted back to your human form".

Suddenly a voice entered my head,"You are werewolf alright,but you don't smell like any werewolf". He was transferring his thought into my head. From books I read about werewolves,you couldn't communicate without being in the same pack or being connected somehow.

He seemed to read my thoughts and say,"Yeah,that it's true. But I'm an Omega. I can read the thought of any werewolf,pack member or not". I thought I sensed a smile in his thoughts. I decide to try talking to him telepathically. I thought...Okay,I've read about your kind and think that's pretty cool.

His thought came again,"Thank you,young one. But I'll have you know not everything you read is true".

Yeah. I know. I thought back.

"Good. You said you wanted to know something"?he asked. I felt more at ease with him. There was an air he carried that me feel comfy.

Yeah,does the first shift of a werewolf always impose danger on the family.

"No",he thought back,"normally it would be great joy to parents to watch their child go through a first shift,except...............",a distant howl distracted his thoughts.

"You need to go,now". I sensed urgency in his voice and turned to go. I  stopped and asked him,"Will I see you again"?

"If you get out of here alive........yes. Now go"! And he bounded deep into the forest. I turn and began to walk back home when I felt as if someone was following me. I picked up my pace and began to run and this time I felt the presence more closer.

I ran faster than I had in my life and each time I felt the presence get closer. Oh boy, I'm dead!

   I saw the schools lamplight and ran straight towards it. I felt so close to safety when a huge wolf about my height landed right in front of me. His grin showed he had no good intentions. I might probably end up its dinner.

   I surrendered to my fate when I heard bones crack. He was shifting back to human form.

In his human form he looked more smaller,his face was being covered by the shade of the trees. He came closer and I felt my heart jump to my stomach.

It was Luke.
