~Previously~Tauris's eyes confronted him and she concluded "It is far too late to head up to your guest room now but we can't let you be seen in casual clothing..." 3rd person PoV:Tauriel's eyes confronted him and she concluded "It is far too late to head up to your guest room now but we can't let you be seen in casual clothing..." She trailed off, carrying her thumb and forefinger up to cradle her chin as her eyes like morning dew on a shard of grass veered from his, focusing as she thought of a solution. A brief moment of silence polluted the air before the female elf's eyes lit up, a spark of joy radiating from her form as she turned to him with a grin plastered on her face, finger pointing in his direction as the hem of her dress scraped against the marble flooring "There is only one way we can solve this..." She announced.
All three pairs of eyes gazed in uncertainty and the following words she spoke made Legolas's heart drop.
"There is a room just outside the hall, if you swap clothes with one of us quickly our disappearance will not remain in people's minds" Tauriel announced confidently gazing between the two with an indication of uneasiness in her fair features and sharp eyes that lingered on the beads of sweat glistening as they formed on Legolas's palm. Tauriel blinked once, dulling the reflection of a deathly pale he-elf that persisted in her eyes like the receding figure of a person distancing themselves from a mirror. Even as the salty fluid in her eyes parted, the most prominent trait of this elf remained. She could see it materialise suddenly on his elegant features like a swarm of fruit flies contaminating an exposed apple. Like the aftertaste of a banana sour in your throat, Legolas's reaction was difficult to miss.
Legolas's eyelid visibly twitched, the narrow sheen of moisture that protected his eyes gradually building at the corners of his stare, the liquid painting the edges of his eyes red with its salty undertone like invisible paint camouflaged against a white canvas. The Prince's strong yet delicate features constructed into an expression of worry which contrasted his pale skin that turned impossibly lighter. Legolas's body itched with anxiety and he could feel the action shake his body, prompting him to subconsciously retreat a step back in fear.
Disconnecting his blue-tinged lips, the Prince's shaky voice mumbled just loud enough for the two to hear "Tauriel, this is not a life or death situation, I will head up to change and I will be back in time for Aragorn's speech..." He said "...It won't take long" Legolas finished, his cold stare fixed on Tauriel both out of annoyance at her suggestion and the way he strived to find solitude from the gossip of the people around that slowly rose in his ears like waves against a shoreline. Even at a moment in which he felt utterly out of place and uncomfortable due to both the setting and her advice, he felt that she was the only individual he could trust, the only person who fully appreciated him inside and out. Tauriel may propose actions that he did not agree with but she always spoke with scepticism as if what she was saying she did not fully agree with either and that's why he felt she was much smarter than him. She was able to see everyone's perspective, able to understand a dilemma from both angles. Tauriel functioned like a light in a dark room for him, she provided him solitude from the chasm of darkness that threatened to swallow him whole. He genuinely appreciated her.
