CHAPTER 28

POSTED 7/25/22

A/N: A bit of a long A/N before we get into this chapter haha but in case y'all missed it, a reader informed me a few weeks ago that another account was plagiarizing my Edmund Pevensie fics, translating everything to Spanish and claiming them to be her original work. Funny thing is that she even copied my author's notes lmao???

Fortunately, Wattpad disabled their content pretty quickly after I sent my report. I seriously hope that account doesn't try to give a counter-notice and that Wattpad doesn't allow them lol :') But for now, I'm glad things have been resolved. That said, this is a friendly reminder that I have not given anyone permission to translate my works.

Lastly, I want to say a massive thank you to those who helped me report them. You have no idea how much it means to me :')

With that, I hope you enjoy this chapter. As always, let me know what you think and don't forget to show some support if you liked it <3

The violent waters below them calmed down, and the clouds above them parted. The ship stopped rocking, and beams of light started to seep in and brighten up their surroundings. The heavens cleared up to reveal powder blue skies and a shining sun, the sight and warmth of it all now an almost foreign to them after such a long battle in Dark Island.

"The spell.... it's lifting," Lucy said. "Edmund! Mary! Caspian! Look!"

Mary and Edmund turned away from one another, slightly startled as if they were jolted out of their own little world and back to reality. Caspian and Drinian nearby scrambled to get up on their feet. The rest of the crew followed suit, their eyes all wide and curious as they watched the scene unfold before them.

Finally, the green mist slowly but surely dissipated into the air. In the distance, the outlines of boats could be made out from behind the fading fog.

"No way," Mary breathed out when she spotted them.

"Narnians!" a crew mate realized. "Narnians!"

Gasps erupted from everyone else on board, which were eventually drowned out by a round of applause and cheers of triumph. The boats drew closer by the second, revealing dozens of Narnians who were unfairly taken by the mist and would've been forgotten had they not decided to push through with this voyage. There were men, women, and children of different ages and backgrounds there, all of them thrilled to be free from their prison and now able to reunite with their loved ones.

Gael stood at the edge of the Dawn Treader, searching frantically for her mother. Rhince stood behind her, doing the same and anxiously bouncing on the balls of his feet.

At last, they spotted her. Still wearing the same white and deep blue dress from when she disappeared, Helaine — the final puzzle piece to complete Gael and Rhince's family — was seated at the head of one of the boats in the front, also searching the crowd for her daughter and husband.

"Mummy!" Gael exclaimed.

"Helaine!" shouted Rhince.

Not wasting another second, the father and daughter duo jumped off of the partially broken ship and into the sea. They swam through the clear waters and towards the boats that continued to move closer to them.

"Rhince! Gael!" Helaine said as they approached her.

"Mummy! Mummy!" Gael reached out for her. With tears of joy pooling at the corners of her eyes, Helaine pulled her daughter up into the boat and engulfed her in a tight embrace. "Oh, Mummy!"

Rhince soon joined in on the reunion, receiving a tearful kiss on his cheek from his wife. The family laughed and cried together, not caring at all about how drenched they were as they were too preoccupied with relishing in the feeling of being back together after so long.
