Harmione glared. "Well, I don't care! That girl looks like me, and I wanna know why!" She swam away angrily, ignoring Attina chasing after her.
Harmione tells Attina all about the strange girl from the palace. Attina reprimands her for going to the surface. In a temper, Harmione flees Atlantica.
Harmione sighed softly as she ran a brush through her hair. She hummed a song to herself, pulling pouty faces in the mirror. "Looks like somebody had a good time yesterday," Somebody spoke. Harmione grinned at her aunt. "I did, thank you, Andi," Andrina chuckled, swimming over. "I hear Attina let you explore on your own for the first time..."
Harmione smirked in the mirror. "Maybe..."
"Who'd you meet!?" Adella shouted, swimming through. Harmione rolled her eyes. "I didn't meet anyone! I just swam around with Gabi," She sighed.
Adella scoffed loudly and drifted down to the bed. "Whatever! I know you well enough to know when you're lying!" Harmione rolled her eyes again and stuck a flower in her hair. "Who's lying?" Harmione grinned at her red-tailed aunt swimming through. "Hey, Arista!" The latter groaned softly as she sat on a chair, resting her back. "How's the baby?" Harmione asked. "Swimming like nobody's business," Arista sighed as she placed a hand on her belly. "I can't wait to meet my new cousin!" Arista giggled softly.
"Ignore her! Who did you see?" Adella whined. "Nobody!" Harmione laughed. Adella exclaimed loudly. "Come on! You're the only one young enough to get away with stuff like this!" Aquata snorted. "Adella, she's thirteen."
"Exactly!"
"Right, so she's too young!"
"Ladies!" Arista shouted. "Shush, else Attina will hear!" Adella rolled her eyes, while Andrina scoffed. Harmione shook her head as she finished her braid. "Liar! Take it from someone who used to sneak out, she definitely did something." Adella narrowed her eyes. Harmione sighed. "Fine, if I tell you, will you leave me alone?"
Her aunts nodded frantically. Harmione opened her mouth to speak, but Alana appeared at the door. "Attina wants to see you. It's breakfast,"
"Why were you out so late?" Attina asked. Harmione hesitated slightly. "Gabi got caught in a current... so I sat with her until she was well enough to swim home," She answered. Attina hummed. "Where'd you guys wait?" Harmione narrowed her eyes. "Why the interest?" She bit. Attina glared. Harmione rolled her eyes. "On the sand..." Attina groaned loudly. "I told you no going to the surface!" She snapped. Harmione's fins rattled. "Well, I can't control where the current dropped her, can I? She was injured, and couldn't swim!" She snapped. Attina glared. "I don't care! What if a human saw you? What would you have done then?"
"Uh, swam away?" She snapped. Attina huffed. "Did any humans see you?" Alana's calm voice spoke. Harmione sighed softly. "No... we landed near a cliff. The beach bit was tiny, so nobody saw us," She answered. "That's good then, you weren't spotted," Alana continued softly. "That's not the point, Alana! She knew the number one rule and she broke it!"
Harmione bristled. "It's not like I conversed with her!" Immediately, she covered her mouth. Alana gaped. Attina gasped. "Her? Who is her Harmione?" She looked away. "The next word to come out of your mouth best be mermaid, or so HELP me!" Harmione didn't say anything. "Alana she went to the surface! And spoke to a girl! A human girl!" Attina leaned in close to Alana's ear, but Harmione still heard her. "What if she saw her? Or even Melody?" She hissed.
Melody? "Who's Melody?" She decided to challenge. Attina glared. "Nobody of your concern," She hissed. Harmione narrowed her eyes. Attina narrowed hers. "You know who I'm talking about... don't you," Harmione stayed glaring.
"DON'T YOU?" Attina yelled, slamming her fist down. "Attina!" Alana yelled. Harmione's fins rattled. "Does it matter who I spoke to?? It's not like I'm gonna see her again!"
"You're damn right! You're grounded here until further notice!" Attina yelled. Harmione glared. "Well, I don't care! That girl looks like me, and I wanna know why!" She swam away angrily, ignoring Attina chasing after her.
Harmione swam until Attina's yells were carried away in the currents of the sea. Who does she think she is! Banning her from the surface! It's not like Harmione wanted to get caught by some fishermen... she sat on a rock in a clearing as she cried. There was something about that girl... that Melody. She knew her from somewhere, and besides from that, she could see her aunts in the girl.
Impossible.
She told herself. She was a mermaid, and Melody was a human. Harmione's mom was a mermaid, and Melody's was human. There was no other explanation for it.
She wiped her eyes dry and looked up to the blue surface of the water. She flung her arms down in frustration. She looked around and made her decision. She decided to swim upwards and break the surface. She inhaled at the fresh sea breeze that hit her face. Looking around, it looked like night time, if the full moon was anything to go by. In the distance, she saw a small boat heading out to sea, off towards the arctic. Harmione shook her head. Only bad things happened up there.
She looked around, grinning. Far in the distance was the pink castle she saw yesterday. Laughing quietly to herself, she made the long swim over.
She swam faster than she ever had in her life. As it turns out, the beach her and Gabi were on, was right next to the castle. She looked around, making sure that nobody was around, just to be on the safe side.
If all humans were like that Melody girl, then she'd be fine... but no risks needed to be taken.
Satisfied there was nobody around, she hauled herself up on the sand. She curled her tail around her body and sighed contently.
