Jisung ran as fast as his legs could carry him, flailing deeper into the forest, his shoes getting caught in the rancid muddy water. He cursed.
Why did the castle have to been in such a secluded area?
It'll take him miles before he reached a populated where he knew the place well place. He consider shifting into a dragon but not only would he couldn't make it through the trees above him. And it'll make him an easier target for the guards and soliders on the look out for him.
Especially now that he could hear the horses nearby. Drumming on the wet forest floors. Getting closer and closer.
He needed to hide, but the forest was bare. He needed to run, but a safe place wasn't guaranteed. He's options were slimming with each passing second.
He did the only thing that felt right at the moment. He headed towards the part of the forest where his accomplices stayed watch for him. He could hide the bag there so even if they manage to catch him, the crystals would still have a higher chance to be found.
Jisung began heading towards higher ground, to the hills where they left him the night of the ball. He was so closer...
But his enemies where closer. Their horses and coarse voice weren't too far from him. He turned towards the sounds and they were close enough that he could see him. He couldn't run now. No.
His time was up.
But he wasn't going to let his efforts go to waste. He pulled out a dragon crystal from his bag, a black shade. He held it in his grip and was prepared to face them. He wasn't going to show any signs of weakness. He refused.
From the dark, they emerged, their faces gaining clarity to Jisung. Hyunjin especially with luminous golden locks that set him apart.
"Yield now!" A bearded man shouted as he approached.
The uniforms lined up in front of him, a dozen of them all armed and... the prince. Jisung looked at him from under his lashes. His gaze was harsh, and he stayed quiet.
"Why have you chosen to steal from within the royal walls? Have you no shame?" Hyunjin asked.
"I did not steal. This rightfully belongs to me."
"You?" Hyunjin half laughed along with the guards. "You are a lowlife, your blood line is a disgrace compared to that of the blue bloods. And you think what you could claim ownership over something a wrench like you does not deserve?"
"Don't bring my status into this. It has nothing of importance."
"Spoken like a true lowlife. Now step forward, nice and slowly and hand over what you have stolen."
Jisungs throat heated up. He felt cornered once again. The scrutiny of the prince who had shown him nothing but kindness. It was all an illusion, he was reminded that in reality... they were still enemies.
"Never." Jisung held the bag close to his side, and the black crystal on his other hand. He could already feel the power from the crystal course through his veins.
"Comply or we'll have no choice but to act." A guard announced.
The guards assumed their position, and drew their bows and arrows. Waiting for Jisung to make one wrong move. He took a hesitant step back.
"We'll give you till the count of three." Hyunjin said with a nonchalant tone.
Once again, Jisung was caught in a dead end. By Hyunjin once again. Twice in a span of one day....what are the odds?
