Felix looked around at their spot, basket in hand.
He wasn't sure if Changbin would arrive today. He wasn't even sure if he got to see his letter. It made him wonder where the letter could have gone off to if not to Changbin.
He took a seat on a rock at their usual spot. He looked around dreamily, observing the trees and the birds chirping in the trees. As his eyes roamed about, he caught sight of Changbin standing in front of him in a distance.
Felix stood up immediately, almost getting a fright from his sudden appearance. "Changbin." He called out. He forgot how shy he still gets whenever he sees him. "How long have you been here?" He exclaimed as he gave him a hug, he loved how he fit into his arms. Changbin's arms always accommodated him well.
"A while." Felix felt his hand graze his hair softly, acknowledging him. Felix looked up and Changbin's usual playfulness was void in his face. Only a straight simple smile which on many occasions would suffice but Changbin was a loud person who could not hide his feelings well. Especially if those feelings consisted of excitement.
Felix pulled back and looked at him with curiosity.
"Hello dove. I missed you." Changbin said in response to Felix's curious gaze.
"I missed you as well. I always miss you." Felix pouted, not wanting to pull away from their embrace.
"Then it's a good thing we could see each other this early in the week."
"Yes, so you saw my letter?"
"Of course."
Felix blushed. He used his best hand writing skills on that. He wondered if Changbin noticed.
"How is Jisung? Is he okay?"
"Ah yes, Jisung!" Felix slapped his head, he remembered why they were here in the first place. "He's okay, he's alive; he's fed. I tried to sneak in extra food but I was denied permission. I couldn't push further because I'd get in trouble and I was afraid my movement would be restricted even more."
"Is he in the kidcote? How did they find him?"
"No, he's in the palace dungeons. And from what I gathered, they took him in that day, he convinced me to stay with you. The guards were in the market and... Changbin I'm so sorry."
"Don't apologize, it's not your fault."
"Yes but I could have warned him. Truth is..." Felix gulped. "Truth is that I knew the palace guards were there. I walked with them on my way to you that day. I don't know what I was thinking, I just left him there."
"You knew that the palace guards were there, where? Why were you coming with them?"
"They were on their way to the market place to fetch some things and we were headed the same way."
Changbin let out a sigh.
"I'm so sorry." Guilt consumed Felix, he knew how worried he must be about Jisung's wellbeing.
"It's okay." Changbin pulled him into another hug, this one was tighter. It felt like he was being headlocked in his arms. But it was strangely comforting.
"How much time do we have?"
"Till what?" Felix barely managed to say through their tight position, but his confusion was clear.
"Till he's possibly hurt?" Changbin pulled away and looked down at him.
"I'm not sure. Not anytime soon. I don't think the prince plans to hurt him."
