The newfound unfamiliarity of the two sides was now clear and set in stone. They were in a circumstance that could easily land them both a punishment of disloyalty and treason.
But they still found themselves standing across from each other, near the usual spot they associated around every Saturday. Felix couldn't help but feel excitement run through him at the sight, he nearly lost balance. He took a few nervous steps towards him and so did Changbin. Drawing closer and closer, until suddenly they stood face to face.
Felix pulled off his hood, revealing golden locks and irregular splotches of freckles.
He'd never felt this nervous to be in near distance to his lover before, not even when they first brushed lips. Now, the air was different and millions of senseless thoughts raced his mind; as if he was being bombarded by his mentor.
Why are you here?
Are you prepared to do this?
Have his muscles gotten bigger?
Why aren't you running away?
Why are my knees suddenly weak?
"Hello, dove." Changbin's voice interrupted all noise in his head."Changbin." His attempt to reply coldly came off as nervous and breathy. He looked down and avoided his gaze. He had to since his words still had an effect on him. He hadn't realised that he'd missed him this much.
"You came."
"Yes, I was on my way somewhere. An errand." He lied.
Changbin's heart clenched. He thought there was a possibility that he had forgiven him. "You're still upset with me?"
Silence lingered in the air.
Changbin sighed. "I... I'm not sure if I should apologize. Should I apologize for who I am, or the fact that I hid that part of myself away from you-"
"No, I can't ask you to do that. Because I too wouldn't want to apologize for who I am. I too have to admit I hold some fault by not telling you that I reside in the palace. I just couldn't let that information out and I understand that neither could you."
Changbin took his hand with a smile on his face. "I like that you're so mature with your reasoning. It's always something I admired about you. I have missed you."
"I've missed you too."
"I thought I'd never get to see you again. The thought of you leaving me frightened me." He leaned in for a hug, Felix stiffened at those words and gulped.
Changbin sensed his discomfort and pulled away to look at him. "What's wrong?"
Felix looked at Changbin apologetically, his face turned to look up at him, showing off innocent doe eyes.
"I need to hear you speak, tell me."
"I... well, not that it carries any offense but you're still dragon and-"
"I've made my efforts to show you that who I am does not affect how I see you. Who we are changes nothing. You're still the owner of my heart."
"I know I am. You're the owner of my heart as well... but..."
