I bit my tongue as we walked down the stairs and into the yard. I wish I had just agreed with William, then there would've been no argument. We opened the fence gate and walked into the woods before transforming. I had never seen William's wolf form before. He turned into a large grey wolf with dark eyes.
Transformation is always slightly painful, as you feel your bones change shape and fur grow out of every inch of you, but the more you transform the more used to it you get so I only slightly wince at the pain. William stands about twenty feet in front of me, barely visible through the dense trees, looking back at me. I run over to him and he turns back.
"Come." He says to me telepathically. When we are in wolf form we can speak to other werewolves and other wolves.
I follow him as he winds through the trees down the mountain. I can feel my speed increasing as we go down steeper and steeper.
He stops in a small clearing where the ground has almost evened out. He transformed back into human form and laid down on the grass. I turned into a human as well and laid next to him.
"Do you know that wolf?" I ask him as we lay silently, the sky darkening slowly around us.
He turned to me. "What wolf?"
"The wolf from the poster."
He turned unto his back again. "No. Never seen them before." I could hear his breathing grow heavier.
"Has anyone moved into the town recently? I mean besides me and my family."
"No." He sat up. "It's probably just a normal wolf, photoshopped to look larger." He grabbed my hand and pulled me off the ground. "Let's go."
We both transformed and I followed him back to the house, weaving through the trees once more.
We arrived at the house and walked silently back into the house and up to my room. "Maybe we shouldn't go." I sat on my bed as William closed the door behind me.
"Good idea." He sat next to me and rubbed my thigh. "Want to watch a movie or something?" He looked at me and I looked at him but I didn't respond. "I could-I can just go." He stood up and began walking to the door.
"No, I don't want you to go I just don't know if I really feel like doing anything." He stopped and stared at me.
"That's fine." He came back over to the bed and laid down. I scooted over and laid next to him.
I stared at the ceiling and listened to his breathing.
Before I knew it I had fallen asleep and woken up. I looked around and couldn't see William anywhere. "William?"
I came out of my room and ran down the stairs. "Who are you looking for?" Issac walked into the room and stared at me as I came down the stairs.
"William." I got to the bottom of the stairs and looked around.
"Oh, he left half an hour ago." He had a handful of nuts in his hand and was picking them up two or three at a time and shoveling them into his mouth.
"What? Why?"
"He said he had some homework or something."
"Oh. Okay." I know he could see the frown on my face as I walked up the stairs.
I got into my room and looked around. "I guess I could unpack some boxes." I grabbed one of the half opened boxes and began taking out things and putting them away one by one.
"Shit." The box I was going through was supposed to have glass things so it had been packed with paper and things to keep everything from- "It's broken." The mug I had gotten for my 13th birthday from my best friend in New York. It broke.
"That's a bad word." Liam was standing in my room now. I hadn't even realized my door had been opened.
"Ugh! Liam! Get out!"
"Dad said it's your turn to cook dinner." He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall.
"But it's burger night!"
"The diner in town is closed."
"Ugh!" I shoved Liam out the door and locked the door.
