Y/n sighed out of exhaustion as she made her way back home from school. Her neck ached from the heavy backpack resting on her shoulders. "At least the complex isn't too far away. . ." She spoke to herself while looking up to the sky. 

Today was just like any other Monday. School had been tedious and stressful . Homework was assigned in nearly all of her classes. And to top it off, Y/n was unlucky enough to get clocked during gym class. She woke up in the nurses office after school had ended, so she lost an hour of free time.

Another sigh escaped her as she arrived at the stairs to her apartment complex. Bracing herself, Y/n began the ascent to the second floor. It wasn't that much of a climb, but time moved painfully slow Mondays. When she reached the top, she let her bag fall to the ground with a thump. "Ugh." She crouched down and buried her head in her hands. "Today can't get any worse!"

At that moment, Y/n heard a boy yell around the corner on the far side of the floor. She lifted her head and saw him rounding the corner with a panicked expression. "PEKE J! GET BACK HERE!" Y/n furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and looked around. Who is he talking to? 

"Mew~"

Something softly landed on her head and mewled quietly. Too stunned to speak, Y/n reached a hand up and pet the creature. Its tail swished in her face, and she laughed a bit as it tickled her nose. "WATCH OUT!" 

Suddenly, Y/n was reminded of the boy and saw that he was barreling towards them at full speed. She yelped and scrambled out of the way, pressing her back to the nearest apartment door. The cat on her head leapt into the air and landed on the ledge gracefully. "I GOT YOU NOW PEKE J!" Ah, so he was talking about the cat.

He sprang forward to grab the cat, but it jumped yet again and evaded his reach. The scene was quite laughable. That is, until the boy lost his footing and started to fall off the balcony. "AH!" Y/n got to her feet as fast as she could, and leaned over the railing. "Oh my god! Are you okay?!" She heard the cat meow behind her, but the boy didn't respond from below. Panicking, she scooped the cat into her arms and rushed back down the stairs. "HEY!" She called to the boy.

He was lying flat on his back, unmoving. Y/n rushed over and knelt beside him. "Hey, hey. Are you okay? Say something!" The cat squirmed and mewled as she struggled to hold it while checking on its owner. "Fine then!" She let the cat go and placed her hands on the boy's shoulders. "Hey, can you hear me?" She whispered as she gently shook him. 

He groaned in response and opened his eyes. "Huh. . ." He laid there for a few seconds, staring up at her. Y/n blushed a bit at his intense gaze. "Are you okay?" She asked yet again. This snapped him back to his senses. "PEKE J!" He sat up so abruptly that his forehead clashed with Y/n's. "Ah!" She winced in pain and leaned back, caressing her head. The impact caused a headache to start forming. Her eyes teared up a bit. Too many head collisions for one day. . .
