A couple months had gone by, Alaska still hadn't come to the Red Wolf territory, I put my questions to the back of my mind and focused on training. I trained hard with Echo and Jaxon, and when they were resting, I trained by myself, I didn't want to let myself say unfocused on something or it left me thinking about my parents and about all the innocent people that I couldn't save. Axl had been put on a post outside of the territory, he was watching and gathering news for Ang and Echo.
Somone had found the body of a headless woman in a black cloak; Echo had said it sounded like the work of Akantha. After finding the body most of the city had been on high alert for anything, they were still looking for any signs of suspicious activity, so it had been unusually quiet. Ang was sure the body that they had found was the body of Mr Abbotts seer, and Ms Pennie was reported as missing as well as Mr Abbott missing from the orphanage. Akantha hadn't been heard from, some rouge wolves (Axl had overheard in a bar) had said that she hadn't even been sending her cronies to raid the other wolf territories. I found this troubling, Akantha had never been this quiet before, it was almost like she had erased herself and her pack entirely off the face of the earth.
On a happier note, Ang had given her permission for me to have Cassie move in with us, Axl bought a bigger bed for me, it was a queen bed with a dark stained wood bed frame. The headboard for the bed had elegant moons and stars carved into it. Echo and I had a hell of a time getting it up to my room, even though it had been taken apart the separate pieces where super heavy and awkward, especially the side that had drawers in it. I felt bad about it, but since Cassie had moved in Id allowed myself little time to spend with her, I wanted to protect her and I thought that this would be the best way to do it, but when I did see her we used our time fornicating anywhere and everywhere.
Ang had taken to slaving herself away in the kitchen, she could always be found in there looking at the news on her phone or cooking mean meals for everyone. She and Echo could be found talking about what they wanted to do with the clan when everything started. Echo would lead us out to fight and Angie would take the young kids to hide then catch up with the rest of the wolves. We were just waiting on Alaska to come to our pack, then everything else would fall into place.
"Found a place big enough to hold all the packs together." Echo held up his phone. "We'll just have to convince the owners to let us use it." It was a stadium, one of those fancy ones that had a ceiling that could close when it rained.
"Who do we talk to?" I ask.
"I dont know." Echo sighed, "I just thought some of the other wolves would like the field, we can always stay in hotels or something else."
"No, it's a good idea, we'll be in the heart of the city, even we live in a gated community in the woods."
Cassie snuggled into my chest; I could feel her heat radiating from her body. I would miss this, but when the time came, I wanted her to stay behind with the children and to help take care of them. We hadn't talked about it since I had brought it up, I knew that she didn't like the idea and I knew that she had been training to fight, but I didn't want to lose her, I couldn't.
I inhaled a wiff of her hair as I watched Echo thinking.
"Even if we cant get all the wolves in there it would be worth a try." He set his phone down. "At least for some of the more wild rouges."
"So we get all the wolves in once place, it will draw Akantha out and lure her to us where we can fight her and hopefully kill her?"
"Yes." Echo nodded. "She would want to know why so many wolves are gathering in one place, not even she would be able to help herself with curiosity."
"What if she doesn't show?"
"I think she would."
"I don't know." I rested my chin on Cassie's head. "It doesn't sound like something she would do, maybe send a crony or a spy."
