Halfway through dinner, there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Echo said as he jumped out of his chair. When he came back into the kitchen he was accompanied by Alaska.
"Sorry, I'm late." He nodded in Ang's direction. "Smells amazing."
"What did you find out?" I asked.
"After we eat." Echo glanced at Cass and Ang.
"Okay." I smiled at Cass.
"Nice hickeys," Alaska smirked at Cassie's neck. "That's quite the artwork Lupin." He chuckled.
I watched Cassie turn a bright shade of red.
"Oh yeah," Ang added in. "You should have been here about an hour ago, it sounded like we had wild animals upstairs."
Cassie covered her face at Ang's words and I just laughed and placed a hand on Cassie's leg under the table.
"We might have got a bit carried away." I shrugged.
"Atta boy." Alaska beamed. "I did turn you into quite the man."
"Yes sir." I grinned.
"Are you going to stay long?" Echo asked, changing the subject.
"Couple days." Alaska scratched his chin. "Those two need the reunion, and we need to talk about something serious."
After dinner, Ang cleaned up the plates and we stayed seated at the table waiting for Alaska's new information.
Once Angie had sat down he spoke. "I took care of the teenage boy, said he was paid to do it by an older wolf."
"What?" I gasped.
"Yeah. That's not all." Alaska looked at me. "Did you tell them?"
I shook my head.
"Tell us what?" Echo and Ang said at the same time.
"Well, we had to cross illegally. There were wolves at the pass we were going to go through, we ended up crossing a river. I think the two things are connected."
"You mean Akantha had someone pay that teenager to cause a scene to draw us back thinking we'd be stupid enough to try to get past the border?" I looked at Alaska, and he nodded.
"That's exactly what I think."
"Well, we didn't get caught."
"No." Alaska agreed. "She's getting more desperate, this was the first move, so now we need to do something to let her know she got out attention."
"Like what?" Echo asked.
"Start letting rouges in, your territory is one of the only safe spaces left. A lot of rouges are looking for homes now. Got a few friends that would agree to let you be their alpha Echo."
"Do we have enough food supplied for that?" Echo asked without looking at Angie.
"We might, but Ang controls the food supply we get, as soon as we start taking strays in she will cut us off."
"It'll help get you numbers to protect yourselves from being overrun. Akantha will do it eventually." Alaska grunted.
"I know. I was just saying it will provoke her sooner than we probably want. She already cut us short on food for keeping Lupin safe."
"This territory is pretty secluded, I'm sure you could set up hunting parties."
"It would work."Ang agreed. "But ultimately it's up to Echo to decide."
