It was almost time.

I had woken up & got dressed earlier than usual & noticed that there were guards lined up outside waiting for our departure.

I didn't pack much with me. That's the number one rule of being on the battlefield 24/7. Always pack light.

When I walk outside of the Empire gates, my heart throbs at the sight of Rumia. I'm not sure why...but seeing her just makes me feel so nostalgic. I've always thought this.

She is in the back & centered between the lined up knights. This departure is a big deal because we will be going away for a while.

Silas & I have to shut down multiple regions which would take months. We prepared so much beforehand so we know what to expect & not waste any time.

The moment Rumia spots me, it's like the world suddenly moves so slowly around us. The leaves flowing in the air caused by the gradual wind is like time itself has stopped.

She appears so graceful in that armoured uniform I bought her. She stands tall like a soldier should.

Her beautiful long waves are in a ponytail but still syncs in with the wind. Her smile makes my heart skip a beat...and her eyes shine from farther away like the stars in the night sky.

"Hey." I say quietly under my breath when I reach to where she stands. Our faces are right in front of eachothers. Our breathing is heard so clearly.

"Hey." She smiles & looks at her hands. She holds a gold chain with a heartshaped design.

"What's that?" I ask & she lifts it up, for me to see it's potential.

"I know it may sound a little cheesy..." She begins, biting her lip out of nervousness. "...But I want you to carry this around with you while on your trip..."

She places it in my hand & I open up the locket, revealing a picture of herself.

"I put my picture in there so you don't forget me while you're gone." She tells me.

She may have thought it was cringe to give me something like this...but i'm sort of happy to recieve it. Whenever I feel homesick, I will just look at her picture & it will feel like home to me. It will remind me of what home really is.

"Actually, never mind, let me-"

She goes to grab the necklace out of regret but I pull it away out of reach.
"Thank you. I shall cherish this & look at your face everyday."
The picture appears discoloured so I can't see her complete beauty but it's still better than nothing.

She gulps & steps back. She looks embarrassed but there is no reason to be.

"T-there is one more thing I would like to give you." She stammers, breathing nervously.

"And what is that?" I grin.

She motions to one of the guards who have happened to be holding a rectangular box. He steps forward, placing it in her hands elegantly & she brings it forward to me.
"I would also like to give you this."

I hold the box in my hands & look back up at her. "What is this?" I ask, completely confused.

I know what it is...but for some reason, I refuse to believe it.

"Open it." She beams.

I nod & proceed to lift up the lid. I struggle a bit at first but when I finally open it, my eyes lift up in surprise...so much that the top falls to the ground due to fast excitement.

Just as I expected. It was a sword shaped box so a sword had to have been in here.

My eyes have a bit of sparkle in them as I look inside of the box.
"This is..." I trail off but I cannot form any actual words. I am too speechless & distracted by this precious sword.
