Gary POV:

Being whisked away by a stranger in the middle of a dungeon was not a pleasant experience to say the least.

The instant she appeared in front of me, I thought, 'She's stronger than Varay.'

We found ourselves in an empty flat land. I was worried about my friends and especially Kathyln but needed to focus on my enemy first.

'She mentioned this was a test, so the beasts may not go all the way and kill us,' I reasoned internally.

"You... you are a mythical class beast, correct?"

Her brows raised in amusement as she looked at me with less playfulness. That one act made it blatantly obvious that I was right.

She then smirked before raising her hand and saying, "1,738."

"Huh?" I blurted out. She continued, "I have fought against 1,738 humans in my life. All of them were at the mid silver core stage or higher, yet none managed to kill me. 279 of them were in fact at the white core stage."

'So she really is stronger than Varay,' I thought as I furrowed my brows.

She let out a laugh. The laugh was surprisingly normal. It had warmth hidden inside it and made her seem.... human.

I shook my head to get rid of these thoughts and put my hand on my sword.

"Don't worry so much. You and your friends wouldn't die. This is merely a test," she said as she held her laughter in, "But don't hold back at all. I need to see your full strength."

Her playful expression was mixed with killing intent from her eyes that sent chills down my spine.

'Monarch's Indifference'

My mind was doused in apathy as all the emotions buzzed out, replaced with pure coldness and logical reasoning.

My thumb reached for the hilt of my sword as I exhaled.

Second movement of the Keiki Style: Horizon Splitting Slash

Click!

A familiar clicking sound resounded across the plane we were in as the world was dyed in white. I immediately used 'Eyes of Chronos' as my blade neared the throat of the woman.

However, what happened next truly shocked me.

The woman seemed to be moving at completely normal speed, as if I wasn't slowing down time to react to her movements. She looked at my blade nearing her throat before finally stopping it.

I stopped using 'Eyes of Chronos' and my eyes widened in pure shock. 'S-she blocked my attack with a finger!?'

Even 'Monarch's Indifference' stopped working as emotions of dread and hopelessness spiralled out of control, before finally extinguishing as apathy once again took over my mind.

[Mana Zone]

[Zeus Armour]

Lightning covered my entire body, tendrils of it spreading over the plane and onto the woman. She ignored the lightning that bounced off her skin but looked at me with some more interest.

My mana zone contained the entire space we were in and I felt my reaction time getting faster as the pace of my thoughts increased as well.

"Now I shall attack," she announced as lances of light conjured next to her. 'How is she conjuring weapons of light,' I thought, 'There isn't light magic in this world!'

The light lances weren't at the speed of light, otherwise they would have been impossible to evade.

'Eyes of Chronos' caused time to slow down to a standstill but I could still see the lances moving at a normal pace. I immediately pivoted my body and avoided the three lances with no injuries.

However, before I could celebrate my small victory, she conjured up seven lances, "Let's see how many you can dodge!"

The seven lances all moved at the same speed and were as strong as the previous three. I managed to evade six of them using 'Eyes of Chronos' but the last one was too close to dodge.

Third movement of Keiki Style: Void Step

My sword clashed against the lance of light, dealing with it rather easily.

'These aren't strong,' I realised, 'But she's testing my reaction speed instead.'

I looked at her with a stoic face to which she replied, "Last test."

This time, thirteen lances were conjured but I was ready. I gathered all the ambient mana I could from the mana zone and siphoned as much mana as possible from my silver mana core. My attack touched the level of Lances as I released it.

Fourth movement of the Keiki Style: World Splitter

The very space around me distorted as hundreds of sound and lightning cuts were sent towards her. The plane below us was cut in perfect cubes while the powerful lances dissipated into nothing.

However, something weird happened.

I instinctively used 'Eyes of Chronos' just when my main attack was about to hit her. The woman let out a cold smile as she thrust her hand down. That simple movement caused my attack to distort and break apart. The ground was split into jagged pieces instead of perfect cubes from the halfway point.

"Now, who said you could break the lances like that?" the woman spoke with a hint of false anger as she looked down at me.

"But you pass I suppose," she grumbled before my consciousness faded away.

Rachel POV:

Falling into an S-class dungeon after being caught in the queen snarler explosion was already a bad way to start. Then being forced to participate in a 'test' where we had to fight S and SS-class beasts made it way worse.

'This SS-class beast is Ocean Maiden,' I thought, 'Considered to be the most powerful water-type beast in the world.'

We were both submerged in a giant lake where she continually conjured water weapons to attack me externally while also trying to suffocate me from the inside by conjuring water in my lungs.

This forced me to be on my toes and protect myself both inside and outside.

'I can't be this massive,' I thought, 'I must take charge of this battle!'

[Mana Zone]

The ambient water and mana started to come under my control as I directly fought against the Ocean Maiden.

[Nine Headed Hydra]

I summoned the nine heads of the hydra, only for them to easily be blocked by the beast. Even with my mana zone, she was able to keep up equally against me and was actually slowly getting the upper hand again.

One of her attacked pierced through my barrier and almost knocked me out. Air was knocked out my lungs as I struggled to turn water into air for breathing with my fading strength.

'Dammit, why am I so weak?' I internally cried, 'I loved tbate and always wanted to come here to help this world, but now that I am here I do nothing. I am just a useless brat.'

Suddenly, a childish voice resounded in my mind:

Do you want power?

(A/N: Another shorter chapter here, sorry about that. I'll be aiming for a longer one tomorrow and another one on Friday to end the widow's crypt arc, so look forward to that.
