When Diana regained conscience, she opened her eyes, but saw black. It took her a moment to realize there was a black cloth bag covering her head and face. She listened carefully through her heavy breathing. Everything was in silence. She tried to move, but she was tied up to a chair. She tried to release herself, but her hands and legs were hardly tied. She had been kidnapped. She felt her heart racing, a painful pressure on her chest, and her hands started to shake; the familiar symptoms of a panic attack starting.

"God, no. Please," she cried. She tried to drown her sobs when she heard muffled footsteps that seemed to approach her. Then, she heard a door opening.

"Did you guys leave her like that? Oh, come on, poor thing," a girl's voice squealed. She felt the heat of a body approaching her, and someone removed the cloth bag from her head. She couldn't stop sobbing.

"Please don't hurt me," was the only thing she managed to say before she saw the four girls that had entered the room that looked like a small warehouse. Leaning against the door frame there were two girls, a tall redheaded one, with her hair shaved from the sides. She had an intimidating, well-built physique, which Diana had never seen on a girl her age, for she looked no more than 15 years old. The other girl was an Asian girl, tall and skinny, with dark, short hair and dark, patient eyes. There was another girl standing on Diana's right side, a girl that intimidated her the minute she saw her. She looked like a punk, with her short, dark hair in spikes, a black choker and black eyeliner contrasting with her piercing blue eyes. The girl that had taken off the cloth from her face was smiling at her, standing on her left. She had blond curls and beautiful green eyes. Everyone was dressed the same, with black track pants and white cotton t-shirts, with a bow and quiver slung from their back. The blonde girl was the first one who spoke.

"Oh, we're not gonna hurt you, don't worry," she hugged her, which made Diana tense her shoulders under the sudden physical contact. "Please don't cry. We're the Hunters of Artemis. Did you receive the note from Milo?" she asked. Diana nodded.

"Alice, you're scaring her, come on," the punk girl said. She examined Diana with great curiosity, making Diana shiver.

"Thalia, let me untie her. Sometimes you guys can be so rude, come on. What were you thinking? That she was gonna run away? The poor thing is afraid," Alice started untying Diana from the chair.

"So you are the Hunters of Artemis?" Diana's voice trembled.

"Yes, I'm Thalia, nice to meet you," the punk girl said, the tone in which she said the last part was not really convincing. "And I believe you must have lots of questions. I promise we will answer them, but we must get going. You should meet the Hunter's Lieutenant"

The girls started walking through a maze of hallways and up stairs that looked like an underground warehouse, or a bunker. They followed the red headed girl, whose name was Phoebe. Naomi, the Asian girl, walked behind them, and Thalia and Alice were at each of Diana's side.

"There is something I don't understand," Diana whispered, more to herself than to the others, watching her steps as they climbed up some stairs. "How is it possible that my mother is a virgin and yet...I'm here?"

There was an awkward silence before Thalia responded. "Well, I think it is important we tell you about why you are here in the first place, so you can understand," Diana looked at Alice, who shrugged.

"Do you know about the myth of Orion?" Alice asked.

"Isn't Orion a constellation?" Diana answered as they turned around a corner.
