11th of november 2129

"Come on, Abby" Lachlan's voice drags out. Abby's name being prolonged to each and every syllable.

shaking her head, Abby's smile met her deep brown eyes in exuberance. cackling as the brown haired boy's hands showed no mercy, tickling the soon to be doctor relentlessly.

cold hands clawing at his, Abby's laboured breaths came out in short bursts of laughter. "okay! okay, you win, Lachlan!" she squeals, escaping his grasp and pouncing a couple of paces away to admit defeat.

sighing, head turning sky-ward. Lachlan's features began to relax, the previous activates having rendered the mechanic breathless.

"Y'know, for such a stubborn woman, you succumb to defeat quite easily." he smirks, his mirthful brown eyes shimmering in the dim white light above-head.

"Well, I happen to fancy breathing, so.." Abby chuckles in good manner, eyes scanning the boy before her. nodding in agreement, Lachlan clears his throat as he straightens out his clothes. the comfortable silence fallen between the two being far from un-pleasant.

beats of silence follow as Lachlan perches himself on the comfort of the couch they had previously been occupying, eyes flitting to Abby as if to say 'you coming?'.

Smiling, the woman leisurely walks towards him. thumping down rather on his side than the couch itself.

"so," Abby whispers, her voice coming out raspy from use. brown eyes meeting brown eyes as she delays voicing what's on her mind.

"so?" Lachlan repeats, curious as to what she has to say. straightening out, posture no-longer slouching as she had leant into him. sudden seriousness rolling across her features as she prepares herself for what's to come.

"I- um," she stutters, sighing as she brought her hands towards his, holding one of his hands in both of hers as she fiddled with his fingers. "What's the matter, love?" Lachlan questions, eyebrows furrowing in concern for what's stubbing the usually out-spoken girl.

"You shouldn't call me that." Abby frowns at the term. she isn't his 'love', they both know that. sighing, he frowns as well. "Abby," he tries. "I have Jake, Lachlan. this needs to stop. if he ever found out-" "how would he find out, Abby?" Lachlan sits up, hand pulling from Abby's clasped ones.

"well, I-" "I wouldn't tell. I haven't so far, have I?" Lachlan interrupts, voice coming out harsh.

"Lachlan, this isn't about you. I have Jake, and we've been together for god knows how long. this is wrong" she interjects, mirroring his attitude. "then leave him." stated bluntly, Lachlan stands from the couch, shortly followed by Abby.

"it's not that simple, Lach." Abby tries to reason. "why, Abby? why isn't it 'that simple'" he curses. his features distraught.
"because we're married! Lachlan. I love him." voice cracking, Lachlan laughs dryly. "you love him, Abby? you do, don't you?" he turns before spinning back around shortly, point his index finger towards her. "you 'LOVE' him so much so, that you fuck his best-friend every, I don't know, day? I couldn't tell you the last time I went a day without sleeping with you." Lachlan argues, exasperated with himself.

"you can't do that" Abby declarers. "I can't what, Abby? tell you the truth?" he spits. "no, you can't blame it all on me." she yells, eyes stinging with unshed tears "as you said, you're his best-friend, yet you're sleeping with his wife. this isn't all my fault. I agree to my part of the blame, but you have to, too." she sobs, tears rolling past her eyelids, soaking her cheeks.

"so? what do you want me to do, Abby? I love you, I'm with you, all the time. where is he every other hour you need someone? huh" his voice cracks, tears staining his own eyes as he stares defeated at the woman.

"he's busy, as he should be and I should too. we're both busy people and that's why it works so damn well." she accentuates her words. venom prickling her throat as guilt settles in.

"so again, I ask, Abby. what do you want me to do?" Lachlan pleads, on the verge of losing to his fight against tears. "I need this to stop, but it's just so hard. I need to be with Jake, but it's so hard to leave you" she whimpers, breaking down as she begins to sink. strong hands clutching her body to his before it's too late. "well, this doesn't make it any easier." Lachlan whispers. Abby's  sniffles being muffled by Lachlan's shirt.

"No, it doesn't make it any easier." Abby mumbles against him. Her tears having soaked through the thin cotton of the boys t-shirt.
"It doesn't make it any easier at all." She repeats herself, shaking her head into Lachlan's chest.

"Because I'm pregnant."
