"I just think you shouldn't be blowing your load to whoever will catch it." I grunted, a cold metal spanner wedged under my armpit. shaking his head with a grin, Sinclair chuckled. "with my status, it definitely comes with benefits"
"yeah, benefits that'll land you with a kid." dropping the spanner, it clattered to the floor. clanging against the steel boarding of the workshop's floor.
"like you're one to talk" Sinclair chokes, laughing around the tool sitting in his mouth. sighing, I shook my head. "jeez, don't remind me. I have no idea what Abby'll do. I don't even know whether she's keeping it."
"well, do you want her to?" Chief askes, raising an eyebrow in my direction."well, yes? I think I want her to but, as she said, there's Jake" I reasoned, picking up the grease rag and wiping my hands before tossing it to the work bench. "I just don't know what to do, 'Clair."
"well there isn't much you can do" Sinclair states, tools set aside as he looked towards me. "you kind of knew this wasn't a forever option though, Lach. She got married before you made a move, and with the off chance she did reciprocate, you got all that was being offered, and, if you truly do love her, Lachlan, and you do care about Jake as much as you claim, then you'll let them be. although, the whole pregnancy thing complicates it by a mile."
sighing and dropping my own tools. I sit at the stool set by the work bench, dropping my face in my palms as I rubbed them back through my hair. "fuck" sitting up-right, I face Sinclair "no, you're right. I can't keep doing this to them, but I don't even know how far along Abby is, so that'll be a lot to unravel if Jake finds out, which is kind of inevitable."
chucking my hands down on the bench and standing, I unbuckled my tool belt and set it aside. "I should probably go talk to her. nothing much else was said after she told me, we definitely have a lot more to discuss." chucking a wave Sinclair's way, he nods back as I leave through the front airlock.

(a/n. I know close to nothing about operations/medical procedures so bare with me. also, Dr. Hanks and Mayville are doctors I made up on the spot, so envision them however you please.)
"Okay, You're doing well. Just don't forget to remove the excess tissue before completely suturing it, ...yes. well done, Dr. Griffin" Dr. Mayville's voice soothed. The calm uv light illuminating the operating table.
Releasing a breath I didn't realise I was holding, I placed down the surgical scissors and needle on the sanitary tray, next to the forceps and scalpel. stepping back and raising my arms slightly as I looked towards Dr. Mayville, her face showing clear approval as she gave me a slight smile.
"Alright, lowering anesthesia. We're closing off, cancel propofol," "Gently!" Callie hissed "Okay! surgery concluded, step away from the table." Dr. hanks announces after his countdown.
A series of breaths being released can be heard around the room as the tension diminishes, having a calm minute for the first time in 4 hours and a half hours.
"You all did exceptionally well this afternoon, apprentices. I now advise you to clean up and dispose of your scrubs, you'll want to get as much sleep as you can possibly obtain, afterall, it is essential for good performance. You're all dismissed" Dr. Hanks loud, Authoritative voice travels throughout the room, reaching everyone as we all gradually make our way out of the OR.

Sighing and plopping down. The waiting room was otherwise empty if it weren't for the janitor sweeping from room to room, office to office. the stale lights filling the room being of different contrast to the now dim, white lighting shining in the corridors of the Ark.
