-----------------------

You never wanted him to find out like this.

Ryan had grown a soft spot for you, much to everyone's surprise. While everyone thought he'd fall for Dylan or Kaitlyn (given the fact that the both of them had insane crushes on him), somehow, he just couldn't get his mind off of you. The way you smiled made him smile. He couldn't help but stare deeply into your wonderful eyes.

Ryan never took himself to be the "romantic" type. However, just being in your presence started to make him rethink what kind of guy he was.

You admired his personality and his ability to show leadership when needed. He was a wonderful camp counselor as well; all the kids loved him. Sure, he wasn't as expressive or emotional as the other counselors were, but you enjoyed that.

Despite only coming to know him two months prior, you felt a tight bond with the dark-haired boy. You could trust him to be honest with you about anything and vice versa.

However, little did you know, this night would test that bond more than ever.

------------

"Fuck!" your breathing was growing stagnant and your mind was racing. All that running ruined your already tired lungs.

The pool house was slowly but surely coming into view now. You could see the familiar chain fence along with the dozen cabins wrapped around near it. This is where they were; you were sure of it.

Dylan's plan to get out a signal was your last known idea of where they were at. You had planned on following them there, but things took a turn very quickly for you.

Kaitlyn insisted you stay back. Some bullshit that "it wasn't safe" and that "she needed you". You didn't trust the idea, assuming that whatever got Nick could easily get the boys as well.

"It'll be fine. I promise. If you hang back with Kaitlyn, you'll be safer."

Liar.

Now here you were, running aimlessly through the woods, hoping to find the group or, at this point, anyone.

Your breathing was loud and staggered, and your legs felt limp. Exhaustion overwhelmed your body. You wanted to take a break and relax.

But you had to keep moving.

Right when you saw the chain link fence get taller was when you felt the need to stop yourself to take a break. You were much closer now, so you deserved it.

You hunched over, your hands pressed into your knees to keep yourself steady.

"Whew--" your breathing paced but was still louder than you wanted it to be. After all, who knew what was out there?

That's the thing. You knew.

Snarls filled the empty air and halted the chirping of crickets in the distance.

Shit.

If the group was in the pool house, you knew it would be unsafe to lure the monster to them. If it was able to tear through Nick's leg, who knew what it would do if it came face-to-face with an entire group.
