Ezra's POV:

"Ezra. We've been following this cat for almost an hour! We really need to head home now. I don't think this cat is taking us anywhere" Kanan doubted as he ran beside me.

"Kanan, I have a feeling that this cat knows where the Rebels are, and I'm trusting my instincts" I reply, as we slow down to a walk by the edge of the woods before stopping entirely instead of following the cat inside.

"Ezra. I'm serious. I'm not letting you go galavanting off into the woods at 11pm" Kanan frowns whilst crossing his arms (the fatherly "no nonsense" stance).

"But Kanan, we're close. I can feel it" I protest, but Kanan shakes his head.

"Forget it Ezra"

After a while of protesting I realised that Kanan wasn't going to change his mind, and Hera came to pick us up in the Ghost.

"How'd it go?" Hera asked joyfully as Kanan and I both climbed into the silver car.

"No luck" Kanan replied for me as I kept my head down low in disappointment and worry. Why couldn't Kanan just trust me?

The ride back to the house a was awkwardly silent and felt like an eternity. Kanan kept looking behind himself at me as we drove home, but I didn't return the gaze. I was so distracted trying to think of reasons for the Rebels disappearance, that I didn't even notice Hera give Kanan a concerned look.

Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the white cat on the edge of the woods, just sitting there watching me, not breaking eye contact with me the entire time we drove, until we turned a corner and the cat vanished from my sight.

Once we arrived back at the house, we were welcomed by Sabine running up to us and embracing me in a hug, which I gladly returned, before asking me how it went.

"They're gone" I reply bluntly before moping into the house and start climbing up the stairs. Hera looked like she wanted to say something, but was stopped by Kanan. "Just let him be. He just needs time" he addressed to Hera before the rest of their conversation was muffled as I made my way to my room.

I opened the heavy door, flopped onto my bed and stared up at the Phoenix symbol that Sabine painted on the ceiling for me about a year ago.

'My friends would tell me if they where leaving. Right?' was the question on my mind as I slipped into a deep slumber.

at first the dream was about when I met Kanan and the rest of the Jarrus family, but then it soon went back deeper into my memories, and the memory began to play out as if I were living it again.

"Come on Ezra! Keep Up!" an eight-year-old Zare called to me as he and Jai leapt from building to building, in front of me, on our way to the centre of town.

"I'm trying! the tiles are all too slippery! besides, you and Jai have been doing this a whole year longer than me!" I yell back to him as I struggle to balance.

"so?" he questions with a raised eyebrow. I almost slip, but manage to regain my balance just in time.

"so... your more experienced, and overall, better at doing this then I am" I pout.
