Dahlia PoV (Later in the afternoon of the next day, just after lunch):

I sat in a comfortable chair, sipping tea and reading a book, until my ears detected a distinct buzzing noise. I pulled on my mask, before two swarms of flies burst through the doors. Bela and Cassandra appeared in front of me, evil grins on their faces and sickles in their hands. I tilted my head at them, before chuckling darkly.

"Am I in trouble?" I asked, and they glanced at each other, before looking back at me.

"What kind of people do you like?" Bela asked, and I raised an eyebrow at her.

"I'm anti-social and also, I hate people." I answered calmly, and Cassandra looked at me.

"But you've befriended a few." "Yes, some people, like Miranda, have gained my friendship, but not my trust. Why?" "Do you consider our sister a friend?" They looked at me expectantly, and I thought about it, before nodding.

"I suppose so. She is an excellent person, and rather funny and charming. I do enjoy her company." They looked excited for a moment, before calming down and staring at me intently.

"Have you ever liked someone... romantically?" Bela asked, and I scowled, my hair instantly turning red. The sisters jumped slightly at the change, and they looked nervous as I started speaking in a harsh whisper.

"Yes. A long time ago. I had to stab her to death after she tried to shoot me, simply because she found out I was a vampire." I growled, and they hesitantly asked their next question.

"If you could try it again, would you try it with someone you trusted?" I laughed hysterically at that question, and they exchanged nervous glances. After I had calmed down, I looked at them with a bittersweet smile on my face.

"I haven't trusted someone since that woman, not even Miranda, who I've known for decades. I will never trust someone again, certainly not enough to try that again." They flinched as I said 'never', like I had just cut them with a knife. They nodded, before asking one more question.

"If you ever could trust like that again, could you do it?" Cassandra asked, and I looked at her sadly, my hair changing back to its regular blue color.

"Ms. Cassandra, I would not, because no one deserves to have to deal with my broken soul." She nodded, and they slipped out of the room, leaving me to ponder their questions. Eventually, however, the pull of reading got to me, and I decided I would just have to wait until they explained it to me.

Bela PoV:

"This is bad, Cass! What do we do?" I was nervously pacing, and Cass grabbed my arm and forced me to sit down.

"We'll tell her the truth. Better than her hiding in a fantasy world. At the same time, the doctor does seem truly broken. She may eventually open up, but it will take time." Just as she finished saying that, Daniela swarmed into the room, and I saw the tears on her face. We both stood up, running over to her and hugging her, and she cried into my shoulder as I hugged her. After she calmed down, we all sat on the couch, but before we could say anything, we heard the distinct tapping of the doctor's walking stick. She walked by, glancing at us, obviously wanting to say something, but just quickly continuing on after an internal conflict. We looked back at Daniela, who was looking at the ground, tears streaking down her face, and I stood up, glancing at Cass who nodded at me. I swarmed after the doctor, catching up to her eventually, just before she reached her room. I materialized in front of her, a hand on my sickle, and I growled at her.
