My birthday starts in the best way. I wake up to the fresh morning air of the open window in our bedroom. Chris's side is empty but sunshines are filling the sheets with warmth. It's an exceptionally nice day for March.

"Happy birthday!" Chris and Adaline surprise me.

"Oh, thank you." I say as Adaline hops onto the bed and hugs me.

"Happy birthday mommy." She says sweetly.

"Thank you honey."

"We made you breakfast." Chris says holding a tray.

As Adaline sits down next to me on the bed, he places the tray on my lap and I notice how much effort they've put into it.

"You are the best." I tell them and take the amazing bouquet of cornflowers.

"I chose them because your favorite color is blue." Adaline tells me. I can't believe that she thought about this. They are so beautiful, so delicate.

"They're beautiful." I plant a kiss on top of her head. "You have to help me with this. I don't think that I can finish it myself." I say and Chris's smile grows.

"I'll get the utensils." Chris says as he stands up from the bed.

"Hey," I say and he turns to look at me. "You didn't plan anything crazy for today, right?" I hope he didn't. I had enough crazy birthdays and this time we have Adaline to think for.

"Don't worry." He says, but I have a feeling that he did. Shit. He doesn't say anything else and leaves the room.

"Mommy..." A little voice next to me says.

"Yes, honey."

"Do you like birthdays?" She asks with a little sadness on her face. That's an interesting question.

"Yes, I do honey. I love birthdays and holidays."

"Luna says that it's a stupid day." I want to kill that girl and the mother that puts these stupid ideas in her head.

"Luna is just jealous, darling. When is her birthday?"

"I don't know."

"Well, ask her when is her birthday and we will make her a nice gift. People who usually don't like birthdays are the ones who don't get something nice."

"Why?"

"Probably because they..." Chris enters the room and takes a seat on the bed. "want something as a present, but never got what they wanted or because their parent and people around them think that it's stupid. Which I think that is not... We should celebrate every good thing."

"What's the discussion about?" Chris asks and takes a bite from the pancakes.

"Birthdays."

"That's interesting..." He says with his mouth full. He shouldn't do that in front of Adaline.

"Do you like birthdays, daddy?"

"Yeah... I guess I do... I like when your mother throws a party for me." He says with a big smile. That was one of the best surprise parties that I ever planned.

I try the pancakes and they are actually good. I always knew that Chris can cook, but he never does.

"What do you want to do today?" Chris asks and eats a grape.

"Just spend my day with you two." I say, caressing Adaline's hair.

"Okay... I did plan something..."
