October 9th
I don't know why I'm here. I guess it is because San insisted on coming to see my brother play at P'Jeeds. I can't tell if he still has feelings for Tharn, because we don't talk about that, but I hope he doesn't, for his sake as much as Tharn's.
I glance around the bar trying to catch San's attention, but he is too busy flirting with some boy. He always does this, he drags me places I have no interest in being, and then ditches me for the first guy that catches his eye.
When he suggested this outing he said that it would be a "good opportunity for me to meet people", which really means that is a good opportunity for him to meet people, preferably a handsome guy that will take him to his apartment at the end of the night. I take another sip from my beer. I hate beer. But this one was free, San paid for it, with the intention of making me drunk enough to talk with some girl .
I might. San can be an asshole sometimes, but he is usually right about me. And he knows that I would love to meet someone. Someone who will catch my eye and make me love her from the very first moment. I know that this kind of true-love-cliche only happens in movies. But he knows me, so maybe this 'bar' thing is worth a try.
I swirl the warm hoppy swill around in its bottle and try to work up the courage to talk to someone. To please San. To shut up my thoughts. I don't know. Just then San saunters over to me. He has a floppy haired boy on one arm and a dark eyed girl on the other. He grins at me, his eyes a little unfocused, and tells me that he has met some "new friends". His words come out a little thick and a bit slurred.
"This is....?" He starts, before turning to the boy questioningly
"Yut" the boy jumps in
"Yut!! And....!" again he pauses,
"Ruthai" the girl finishes
"Ruthai!! Ruthai is your future wife! And Yut," San says, an inch away from his boy's face, " well, Yut is just mine"
Ruthai blushes and looks up at me shyly. She has long bangs that fall into her eyes, and she has already pushed them aside multiple times since arriving at my table. She has soft tan skin and bright, rosy cheeks. She is undeniably cute.
I smile at her.
"I like your name" I whisper shyly. I don't really know if she hears any of my words, but she looks like she has. She tucks her hair behind her ear and smiles back at me. She has a really good smile. White, bright, perfect. Everything about her seems bright and perfect.
This girl...
"It means heart" She says
"Oh. I don't know what my name means" I say trailing off.
She gives me another perfect smile, "And your name is?"
"Oh, its Thorn" I say,
"Well nice to meet you Thorn. I don't know what your name means either!"
And then we just stand there smiling at each other, feeling like the conversational well may have already run dry.
..This is not the girl.
I look over to San, hoping that he will jump in and save me, but he seems to have forgotten that I exist. He has pinned the floppy haired boy against the table, the two of them are kissing. San has his hands up the back of the boy's shirt.
"So, what do you think of the band?" The girl asks.
I nod. "Oh, I like them! Actually, my brother is the drummer"
