Jeremy

Everyone was in uproarious cheer once we had finished performing. I couldn't believe I was able to pull all of this off. If someone told me earlier that week that I would be forcing Hailey to sing on stage at prom, I would've laughed in their face. It was amazing seeing how much the crowd loved us. Emma and Hector even blew some kisses to the audience. Hailey took a moment to silently mouth a thank you and held out a fist. I held out a fist in return. If only Marvin was here to see this.

"One more song!" demanded the entire audience. "One more song!"

Another song? An encore? Was everyone else up to perform another song? If anyone was willing, it would likely be Hailey. But what song would we do? Hailey just stood there unsure of what to do. We all began to give each other looks in hope that someone knew how to respond or if anyone knew which song to do.

In my mind, it made sense to end things right there. Why ruin a good thing? Naturally, I waived to the crowd. As I did, something caught my attention. Between my knuckles and wrist looked like a tattoo of a simple little circle. How did this happen? For about thirty seconds, I just stared at it.

"Jeremy!" a voice called out. The voice sounded a lot like mine, but a little bit more mature. "Jeremy!"

What the hell? I couldn't take another moment to look at this new and strange tattoo. Just like that, I rushed off the stage and everyone followed. The band thanked us for playing as they announced they would be playing one more song to wrap up prom. Thank goodness they did.

A performance on stage can really do a lot to a body. I definitely felt hot and needed to go outside to get air. The moment I stepped outside, Butts, Melissa, and Marvin were rushing to the door as they were trying to make their way inside.

"Jeremy, thank goodness we found you," stated Marvin in urgency out of breath. "Can you gather everyone else up? We really need to head to the clock tower right now."

"Yeah, I can do that. Why the rush though?"

Melissa lifted up her hair as it was revealed she was missing her ears. My whole body froze at the sight. What the heck happened to her ears? Could she hear anything that was happening?"

"Her ears aren't the only thing she'll lose," stated Butts who spoke for a winded Marvin in a calm tone. "According to Marvin's calculations, some strange forces found their way into the time force. It's not clear what exactly, but whatever it is, it could easily mess anything up. That's why it's super important that we get Melissa and Marvin back into their time exactly at midnight. If we don't, they will cease to exist as they will be written out of time completely."

"If we don't exist, we never came here in the first place." Marvin found his breath by that point. "As great as that sounds, it has serious consequences for everything that happened in the last few days as the time force will be left opened and the time continuum will be messed up."

"Wait a minute, even if things are messed up, doesn't everything course correct itself." Yes, this was a truly confusing conversation. How did my own son understand all this in the first place?

"Not if outside forces are messing with the continuum. These forces could rewrite everything if they wanted. Of course, it's possible that the course correction might create an alternative timeline leaving this timeline to crap. That could likely be a pretty bad thing."

Without another word, I decided to gather up the trio plus Emily. Part of me wondered if this new tattoo had anything to do with what I had been told. What was that mysterious voice in my head? Why did it sound a lot like me? Thankfully, I was able to gather up the crew within less than five minutes. They were all hanging at the punch table. As we left the building, I noticed Ted was nowhere in sight. Did all that embarrassment force him to leave prom? One could only wonder.

Heading towards the parking lot, I filled everyone in on what was happening. During this time, Melissa lost a hand along with her voice. Yes, she couldn't do an ounce of talking. Crap, why hadn't anything happened to Marvin yet?

"Guys, I think I just lost my sense of taste," announced Marvin once we reached the racecar in the parking lot. The school bus was parked next to it. Looks like my question had been answered.

I took the liberty of driving in the racecar with our future children sitting in the back. Everyone else took the bus to get to the clock tower. The ride was completely silent. There was an urge to ask some questions, but I didn't know what to ask. Would Marvin want to answer any more questions?

"I'm getting a pretty bad headache," announced Marvin once we reached our destination. Both palms went against his forehead with his eyes closed. Lots of heavy breaths were to be had.

Once Marvin was able to control and handle his headache, he stepped outside and opened the door for Melissa. Helping her out, she immediately fell to the ground. Oh wow, she had lost her feet. Doubt began to enter my mind. We would all be screwed by midnight.

l pitched in and helped Melissa get back into the racecar. Why get out in the first place?

"What time is it?" Marvin asked with his vision directly on the tower.

"About ten minutes until midnight," I responded placing a palm on his shoulder. "Are you losing your eyes by any chance?" How could anyone not see the giant clock?

"Maybe." The poor boy sounded tired and defeated.

"Are you sure you're going to be able to drive this thing?"

Encore? Don't worry, still two more chapters. lol. Be sure to comment and vote!

Do you wish they could've done an encore?
