"The King is gone!" Arthur yelled angrily as he burst into the cabin, the slow, usual creak of the door now abrupt and belligerent.

Mara looked up from her ritual table, visibly annoyed at her lover's sudden entrance. "Did you have to enter like that? You almost messed me up and I'm near done with this spell!"

"Nice to see you too," Arthur remarked dryly, stepping over a discarded rabbit carcass and crossing the cabin to peer at the Witch's table. "Also, did you happen to notice that I just said that the King, my father, that useless waste called David who YOU said we should bide our time until YOU can kill him, is currently missing!"

"Oh, do shut up," Mara uttered as, unflinchingly, she mixed some of her own blood into the murky, bubbling concoction that lay in progress on the table. "I know he's gone, the trees' whispers are faster than you, which is why I'm doing this. Those Library books you stole for me- which reminds me, we'll have to kill the Records Keeper- are about to pay off," Mara replied as she absentmindedly brushed her perfect blonde hair with her bloody finger, streaking her achingly pretty golden white with a passionate red. "Besides, now that he's gone, we can just take Cair for ourselves."

"Not if he's hiding in the woods somewhere! What if he's staying in the hidden cabin with that Witch we've heard about? And lest you forget, we're waiting on your power to grow so we can take over!"

Mara sighed. She hated when Arthur was annoyed like this, or perhaps impetulant. Sometimes she wondered why she loved him. "You're about to get your wish, my sweet Prince. Now shut up before I mix your blood in here too!"

With the final drop of required blood mixed into the insidious-looking mixture, Mara clenched her teeth as she slowly closed her hand into a fist, and the cabin walls around them, filled with bookshelves, lit up as she did.

The first step in Mara and Arthur's plan was to steal the Library book of Magick that taught illusions. From there, all they had to do was cast a spell on the Library, ensuring the Records Keeper would think that all spell books were accounted for as Arthur continued to steal them and bring them back to Mara's cabin.

Mara didn't have just one book.
She had the entire scope of all Magickal knowledge in her possession.

Mara moaned as she absorbed it all, before discharging it via bolts of lightning that flowed from her perfect fingertips into the now-writhing ritual liquid, which turned an inky black as the substance traveled back up the pathways of pure power into her fingers, flowing into her being, her body, her brain.

Mara screamed as her spell was far more effective than she'd hoped. Darkness entered her, power ravaged her, Magick melded with her. She laughed maniacally as she opened midnight black eyes and trembled in complete rapture as she reached out to greedily intake every last bit of knowledge and power from the stolen Narnian library.

"MORE! GIVE ME MORE! GIVE ME ALL THE POWER EVERYWHERE, FOREVER!!"

The Ancient spell books themselves began to rip and tear into dust as they flowed into the power-hungry sorceress, and her veins briefly turned obsidian black before settling into an ethereal glow as the newly-ascended Mara shuddered silently in a titanic orgasm that would kill mortals with its pleasure.

Arthur fell to his knees in worship.

"Get up."

Arthur struggled to do so until Mara controlled him to stand before her.

The new Mara gazed across Narnia, then into the Abyss, the Place Beyond Between, and sighed exasperatedly as the unholy supreme deity of darkness rolled her pitch-black eyes. "You'll never find him."

"I doubt that, since there are search parties scoping that wood and beyond-"

"No, you fool!" Mara spat. "Wherever David is, he does not appear to be in the observable universe."

Arthur's brow furrowed in frustration.

"Then where is he?"
