The soothing sounds of the Gateway Galaxy theme played through the television as David eagerly played through the beginning of Super Mario Galaxy. He had spent what felt like hours walking around the idyllic small planet, running and jumping and looking out among the stars. What looked like the remnants of another world, perhaps a city, cast a beautiful star-shaped glow from a planet beyond, and as David stargazed with a face full of enraptured wonder, he thought he would feel like this forever.

But even more so than that was the prospect of his new dream girl, Rosalina, the mysterious yet supremely stunning Princess that lay in the Characters page of the game's Instruction Booklet. She had made the young David's heart stop when he first saw her, fictional and static image though she was. He had never been in love before, and he had the feeling he was about to be even more so.

As the light beam struck the planet from the space beyond, and the Gateway finally materialized, David could tell by the star patterns beautifully integrated into the steps that Mario was about to meet Rosalina.

When he finally jumped up the few stairs to the top, David immediately knew that if he ever got an actual wish in his life, he would use it to meet the Princess for real.

An ethereal glow shone from her, and her eyes- or eye, since one was covered by her bangs- were closed, and David wanted to gaze into them and know what cosmic secrets they held. Her dress was just off a shade of- was it aquamarine?- that he'd never seen anything else like it. And her voice- yes, there was some sort of audio enhancement, but her voice was as beautiful as she was.

David's heart almost pounded. It was indeed love at first sight- she was even more beautiful in motion, outside of the Instruction Booklet. He made a mental note to remove it from the game case- it would definitely help his nights to have it with him by his bedside in need of comfort.

My name is Rosalina. I watch over and protect the cosmos.

Nothing in the universe could wipe the smile off of young David's face. He was positively smitten.

He watched entranced as Rosalina introduced one of the Lumas- which in this specific case was an instrument or implement of sorts that Rosalina would bestow on Mario.

With a wave of her wand, Rosalina gave Mario the power of the stars, in this case the ability to spin, defeating enemies as well as flying across the universe by using Launch Stars.

But Mario wasn't in David's scope of reference. He wouldn't remember Mario in that part of the game- he would always wish it was him.

Him meeting Rosalina, him hearing her voice, and him who Rosalina would imbue with magic and the power to defeat enemies and save others:

Star Power.
