Adelina

The funeral's day.
I dressed up and went downstairs, my mother, father and brother were all ready to go. My brother raised his arm, and I rejected. I don't want to walk arm in arm, not right now.
A lot of people were already there, that I didn't know. I only knew the Cuthberts', and Mrs. Lynde.
"Mr. and Mrs. Müller! Come in.." Gilbert opened the door for us, saying hi to Finn and I with a nod. I went to look around, and I found Anne.

"Hi Adelina!" she smiled

"Hi Anne." I said, and we went to eat some cakes in the kitchen. I was walking around the house, then I glanced in the living room, and saw Mrs. Cuthbert tearing up.
Her and John Blythe must have been close. I put my cup down that I was holding, and walked in the room, and sat next to Marilla.

"Mrs. Cuthbert, is everything alright?"

"Oh" she wiped her tears quickly "Yes, I'm fine" she weakly smiled "And you can call me Marilla."

"Okay, Marilla. You knew John, right?"

"Yes.. He was a very.. good friend of mine!" she nodded, trying to calm herself down.

"I'm sorry. His illness was probably terrible.."

"I suppose.. Where's Anne?" she asked, changing the topic.

"Oh, she's outside talking with Gilbert."

"Alright. Thank you." she said, while Matthew also came in the room, looking at me then Mrs. Cuthbert.

"I'm sorry you-" he started

"I'll leave you two alone." I cutted him off, walking out of the room.
I grabbed my cup, and went to drink again.
I walked to a window, seeing that Gilbert and Anne were still talking, then Gilbert walked back in the house, he looked.. Mad.

"Gilb-"

"Not now, Adel." he walked off.
Wow. I'll just ask Anne what happened.
I walked outside, and sat on the stairs, soon Anne came and sat next to me.

"I told Gilbert he's lucky... And he misunderstood it.."

"Why would he be lucky?"

"It's... complicated." she sighed

"Okay.. Don't worry, he will forgive you, I know it." I looked at her "He's kind and he.. Nevermind, but he can't be mad at you, he knows you well, and he knows what you're like."

"What I'm like?" she frowned

"No, don't misunderstand this, like him. You're unique, but... Sometimes you say the words out loud that are on your mind. I don't know what exactly happened between you two, but i'm sure he will understand and forgive you."

"Oh.. Thanks.." she said.

______

And the funeral. After the priest finished talking, and people left, I saw Gilbert was still standing above the grave.
"I'll be right back" I tell my brother and he nods.
I walk back and stand next to Gilbert, waiting for him to say something.

"I miss him" he said in a shaky voice then began crying.
"Oh no, Gilbert.." I hugged him and he hugged me back, crying on my shoulder. "It's okay, cry as much as you want.. I'm sorry for your loss.."

"Thank you.." he mumbled

"What?"

"Thank you for.. being so supportive and you're always on my side, helping me. We only met a few weeks ago, but you're definitely one of my best friends." he said, grabbing my shoulders and gently pushing me away so he could look in my eyes. "You're like a little sister" he giggled.
