*He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.  And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you--NIETZSCHE*

I don't know where I am.  It feels like I'm lying on a bed but I couldn't open my eyes to see. So I stopped trying and just lied there.  I could feel a dull throbbing where a was stabbed. In the darkness before me I could see the faces of my friends and family. I missed them terribly. I don't know how long its been since the night I was taken and I wondered if they even knew I was gone. My friends were important to me so I just threw that thought aside.

When I first met them I was the shy and insecure one of the group.

I guess in some ways I still am. It was because of that that I somehow let people walk over me like I was their personal red carpet.

Tiana stood up for me once and since then I never let anybody walk over me again. I was still that shy and insecure girl inside but I never let anybody see that side of me.

Thinking about the good memories I had with my friends  I relaxed a bit and fell asleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm in a dark room. There was a light somewhere but I couldn't pinpoint where it came from. There was just enough light for me to take a look at my surroundings. The shadows in the room seemed like they were alive, bouncing from wall to walk trying to hide from the small light. I started walking, but it was difficult. The gravity in the room was so strong that if I walked only a few meters it felt like I had ran a mile. Even though it was difficult, I kept on going. I don't know where I was going but something inside of me told me to keep going.
The more I walked the easier it became. My body started to adapt to that hard gravitational pull in the room.
I saw a door at the end of the room and went through it.  I ended up in what looked like an endless hallway. I walked and walked while doors went by on both sides of the hallway.  Then I stopped and all the doors started moving forward so fast  that if I wasn't paying attention I would've missed it. I turned to see where they were going and saw a red door and the end of the hallway. When I looked again I was standing in front of it.  How the hell did I get here so fast.
The though was long forgotten when the door suddenly opened. I stepped through and was met with darkness once again. Oh joy.
In the far distance I saw what looked like a red light.  I went forward to see what it was but when I was only a few meters away from it my body stopped on its own accord.  The red light looked like a flame.  A red flame that grew inch by inch as the minutes went by.  Wow,  I have never seen anything like it before. It was beautiful.
Then suddenly it grew so fast that in one minute instead of a flame,  a man stood in front of me. I couldn't  see his face for it was hidden in a mask of shadows his dark hair was creating.  But that was not what caught my attention.  It was the wings that stretched on either side of him.   The were a beautiful dark black color with a red glow coming off them.  I wanted to walk over to him and drag my fingers between his feathers but my body still wasn't moving.
"Who are you? "I found myself saying while still looking at the winged man before me.  It felt like I knew this man but I would remember seeing someone with wings.  I mean its unheard of. I found myself getting frightened by his intimidating aura.
"Dawn there is no time for introductions. That will come later. Right now I just came to warn you. " His voice sounded dark yet angelic at the same time. It rapped around me like a blanket, comforting me and chased away all my fears.
"Warn me about what? And can I at least get a name  " I said with my voice sounding a little shaky.
I heard a light chuckle coming from him.
"There is no need to fear,  my princess. For I would never hurt you, because if I were to hurt you I would hurt myself as well.
Now the warning. Things are going to get even more difficult from now on. As for my name well I don't have one.  People just called me the Phoenix. " I just stared at him in confusion.
"What do you mean if you hurt me you'll hurt yourself as well? And everybody has a name.  Why don't you? "
I felt myself getting more relaxed in his presence.
"All in good time,  princess.  And to your a second question: I guess no one ever stayed long enough to care in giving me one. Everyone always saw me as something evil. No one cared so  neither did I. " He said with sadness in his voice but he quickly turned his sad face to one with zero emotion on it .
"I'm sorry to hear that and I don't think you're evil.  In fact I feel safe with you for some reason. So how about we make a deal? " I said while stretching out my hand to him.  I don't know how thatbwas possible since a minute ago I couldn't move.
"What kind of deal?" He looked at my hand with hesitation.
"Since you said that things are going to get even more difficult it looks like we are going to need each other-"
"What makes you think I need you? "He snapped at me while interrupting me.
"You said people always leave you.  Now I promise to stay with you on one condition. " I said while a smile made its way on my face.
"People always leaves, but say I believe you,  what would that condition be? " He said sounding a bit surprised at my promise.
"Let me give you a name. "
He looked at me as if I was kidding but when he realised that I wasn't a small smile appeared on his face.
"That's your condition? You want to give me a name?"
"Yep.  That's my condition take it or leave it. "I said in a teasing voice.
"You're different, Dawn. You have yourself a deal.  Now our time is up. Goodbye, my princess." He said while shaking my hand.
"Wait! Don't go just yet.  I haven't even given you your name. "
I was getting a little scared at being left alone again.
"Don't worry you'll see me soon enough and then you can give me my name. I will always be with you." And with that he was gone. All that remained was the red fire that I saw before I met him. Everything around me was starting to fade.
Goodbye. I muttered to myself just before I woke up drenched in sweat. My heart was beating frantically. I was just a dream.
I couldn't help but hope that even though it was a dream everyting that happened was real.
