"Hey, where's Auntie Inko?"
"She's dead."
"I'm sorry. Do...do you want to talk about it?"
"No."
"Alright." Thankfully he left it there. There was no way I could ever tell him that I saw her die. There was just no way. I might not have seen the moment but I know what happened. He killed her. He murdered her. But I couldn't say that out loud.
"We should go now, before it gets late."
"Sure."
I put the cleaning supplies in the cupboard under the sink and went to find Dabi.
"Hey. Everything ok?" He asked, patting the top of my head which was oddly comforting.
"I'm going to visit Katsuki's mom. I knew her before the whole basement thing. And I already have a reason for why I was missing. She won't know about so you don't have to worry."
"Alright. Have fun. But remember what I said, you make sure to take care of yourself. You don't have to worry about us all the time."
"Sor-" He pushed my hand away again.
"No more apologies. You're okay." He ruffled my hair as I turned around. I walked back to the front of the house where I met up with Katsuki and we headed to his house. He was only down the road so it was slightly weird to see him down the street this far.
"What were you even doing this far down the street?"
"Seeing if you were ever back. It was sudden when you disappeared. Sometimes I would always see lights on so I tried to see but all I saw was your bastard father."
"So, what really is your quirk? The only thing I rememberer are sparks but that was over ten years ago."
"I'll show you when we're inside. I don't need to get yelled at by the dumbass police again for illegal quirk usage outside."
"They made that a thing?"
"Yeah. It's pretty dumb. Like what's the point of having them if we can do anything with them?"
"Probably because we're still teenagers and stuff."
"Yeah I guess. We're here."
Katsuki pulled his house key from his pocket and unlocked the door.
"I'M BACK OLD HAG!" He immediately yelled. "Just leave your shoes by the door. Or leave them on, I couldn't care less."
I placed my shoes next to his and followed him into his house. I had only been over maybe once or twice so of course I couldn't remember anything.
"WHATS FOR DINNER?!" He yelled while looking around.
"QUIT YELL- oh there you are. Oh! Hello, who's this?" I guess she didn't recognize me.
"Dumbass old hag! That's Izuku!"
"Midoryia?!" She yelled. I nodded. She ran up and wrapped her arms around my shoulders. "Oh honey! Where did you go! You and Inko just suddenly disappeared from the map and we couldn't contact you!" She stepped back and looked me up and down.
I glanced over to Katsuki.
"Don't worry I'll translate." I brought my hand up from my pockets and started to sign slow so Katsuki could translate easier.
"Mom and I moved to America for a while and Dad had to stay back for work."
"Him and Auntie Inko went to America. His old man stayed behind for work." Katsuki translated.
"Oh! You left so suddenly! You must have left while we were away. I just wished you would have called or something. So, where is Inko? She should come join us for dinner. What was her favorite dinner? Yours was katsudon I remember that...hm." She kept talking about her. I missed her. I missed my mom. I know Mitsuki said she was always here for me but it just wasn't the same. It was already too late to try to hide it I knew I was crying.
"DAMN WOMAN SHUT IT!" Katsuki yelled over her. She looked up and saw me. I wiped at my face to stop the tears.
"Izuku? Is everything alright?" She asked.
"Mom didn't make it back from America. That's why I came back. She got some sickness but they couldn't do anything about it."
"Long story short she got sick and passed. That's why he came back."
"Oh honey I'm so sorry. You're always welcome to come over at any time. If you ever need anything that your dad doesn't have we will get it for you." I nodded.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome, Izuku dear."
"I didn't know you knew sign."
"Um, just a bit. I started learning because, well it's not something I'm supposed to share. Katsuki?"
"Tch. Whatever." He turned away but I saw him still looked back.
"It's because the explosions are too loud for your ears, aren't they? They hurt your ears?"
"How's you figure that out so fast?" I walked up to him and started to touch his ears. "You only learned my quirk today.
"Well, from what I heard they were pretty loud."
"You always were a nerd. Analyzing and shit." I smiled.
"Aw. Two best friends reunited after ten years. Let's get some dinner in you two. Katsuki, if you're growing to be a hero you'll need your strength. The exam is coming soon. Speaking of which, Izuku, where do you want to go to high school?"
"He's going to UA too."
"Oh! What course are you trying out for?" She asked while starting to prepare the ingredients while we set the table.
"He got into the hero course on recommendation."
"What?! That's amazing, kid!"
I nodded my head.
————————————
"Thank you for the meal, Mitsuki."
"Of course, any time dear."
I put my plate in the sink and headed back over to the front door to grab my shoes.
"Will you be fine to walk back?" He asked.
"Yes. You don't need to walk all that way."
"You better not be lying. If you are I'll kill you, nerd."
"Sure, Kacchan." He looked slightly confused at the nickname but went with it.
"See you at UA."
"See ya."
He closed the door behind me and I made my walk back to my old house. I probably shouldn't call it my house but it still was the place I grew up.
