Onyx
By the time night fell I was exhausted. I had worked with all three training classes to avoid talking to Syn. Her hiding whatever her and Otr's relationship was rubbed me the wrong way. Orson and Jane joined me and Clara for the kids class as well, they ditched school which had been okayed already due to what was going on.
Bane and his pack members here and Syn's pack headed down to the woods where the ritual was going to take place. I followed behind with Orson who seemed scared about being around the witches. He came because I asked him to be there, maybe he would get answers as well.
"Before we begin, do not let go. We need the circle unbroken in order to keep Jade grounded in our realm. If you let go, she will be lost with no way to return to us." Alice had on a deep red robe with a pentacle painted in silver on the hood. The other witches had black robes with the same silver symbol.
Lumen was being watched by one of the pack teachers. She was good with kids, even the magically inclined ones. He seemed to love her even if he just met her. Amoura was left behind as well, the baby could not handle the amount of force this was going to take.
"We understand. Don't let go" Evander nodded at his wife, proud of her.
From what I had learned each witch had their own abilities. Jade just seemed to have the strongest connection to the spiritual realm and that's why we needed her there for this to work. Her vail was the thinnest in other words.
Alice and each witch here each took a dagger and cut the palm of their hands, letting the blood drip into the silver chalice above the fire they had started. Once each had done it, every person here was instructed to take hold of each other's hand and sit on the ground. It helped keep her grounded to the earth when we do so.
Jade was in the center of the circle beside the fire, her eyes remained closed while they started the incantation. I watched in horror as her eyes turned white, they looked like beams of light, illuminating the area around us. Orson started shaking and shut his eyes tight. I squeezed his hand a bit tighter and looked over at Syn who was watching in awe.
Their incantations started getting louder, and more powerful. It covered the air and made it hard to breathe. My lungs were struggling to handle the pressure being put on them. I shouldn't have come to this, I needed to leave. I couldn't handle this, I wasn;t ready to be a part of such things.I tried to let go and Clara reinforced my hand.
"Do not let go Onyx" She mouthed
The wind started whipping around us, and the sky got shades darker. It turned a purplish green color. All wildlife in the area began to run to safety, wherever it was. Bane looked like he was going to throw up, and Atlas was lost in a trance. Evander and Syn both were watching Alice lead the coven. She wasn't allowed to do this since she was the leader of witches. They couldn't risk losing her without a rightful heir that is of age.
After what felt like forever the incantations began to die down, I watched as the clouds slowly started to disperse. They revealed a brightly lit sky, with thousands of stars twinkling down on us.
"I've never seen stars before, I think," Orson whispered to me, still gripping my hand.
"They're almost as beautiful as your cousin" I looked directly at Syn and couldn't help but smile.
She was absolutely breathtaking. Her hair was in a loose braid, with lavender flowers placed intricately in it. Her eyes were flashing back and forth to their beautiful green to their bright glowing red. She was fighting Davina for control, Orsons started doing it as well. They both tried to let go of the hands they were holding.
"Stop!" Syn shouted "We have to stop!"
I looked at Jade, whose eyes were going black losing the white glow. She fell over and stayed completely still. It looked like we were all looking at the corpse of one hell of a witch. They finished the last verse and rushed to her side. I pulled Orson to stay back. We didn't need to be in the way of whatever was going on. We stayed sitting and watched as they checked for a pulse and started CPR. My heart stopped when her eyes snapped open and she looked directly at me.
"You aren't supposed to be here!" she shouted "You were supposed to stay away from all of them! They were supposed to protect you from afar!"
"Jade, what is going on?" Alice was frantic "What happened?"
"You! How dare you contact me! Do you not realize how stupid that is? You could ruin everything girl! You knew the dangers of this, especially being MY daughter." I started to back away from them, Orson shifted out of fear and whimpered.
There were a few beats of silence, everyone was in awe that this actually worked. With Alice being the supreme witch like I've heard and her spirit I knew she would die trying to get answers for me. She was becoming a mother figure slowly but surely for me and she knew it.
"Mother, we just have some questions. Can you help?" Alice pleaded
"I already know what you want. Let me speak to the boy, I have much to tell him" the black demonic eyes shifted in my direction.
"Me? Why me?" I asked her, backing away from her slowly
"Because her end" she pointed to Syn "will be your grandfather's fault."
"What do you mean his fault? Her end?" my heart raced, the witch cocked her head, I felt as if I was watching a demonic possession happen right before my eyes.
"Before you were both born and before the uprising, I was summoned to the oracle. They needed to speak with me urgently about you. I was told that a new generation of beasts would finally be born after a millennia. They were said to be eradicated, but the oracle knew the truth."
Her eyes scanned everyone around her, taking in the sight of wolves and witches
working together in peace. It was definitely a sight to be seen, rarely do they trust one another enough.
"Your grandfather had already enlisted the help of this pack by the time I found him. So the night he was taken I hid you from his captures, in return I was given some of his blood. As you know it is worth more now than it ever was before. If they figured out who you are they could use you for their own benefits. I knew there was no way to break the blood pact he had made so keeping you safe was my only hope." she paused, thinking "I didn't want this to happen, I was supposed to keep you separate and I failed. I'm truly sorry, there's nothing you can do now. You have to face the consequences dead on"
"What do you mean by consequences?" Atlas pulled his attention from Syn to the witch
"Evigilasti Bestia. She is in the line of fire now, they just wanted the wolves but now? They will just want her and anyone related to her. Why they wanted the wolves I do not know, however once they find out what she is, they'll come. There is only one way to save her, it shall be between you as mates, and her gifts yet to come."
"What does that mean?" Ezra's hands were balling into fists by his sides
"It means you have awoken the beast, Onyx has awoken the beast that is Syn" Amos explained to him, not taking his eyes off Jane.
The witch nodded and looked to Evander "Now what do you have to ask, I can see it brewing"
"Who hid the files about him and the blood pact? How did I not remember it?" Evander questioned her
"Ah yes, know that more than just you have witches on your side. They got close to the truth about Onyx but they weren't entirely sure yet. Now that the girl, Ash, saw him go to you they know. You know what to do, accepting each other will create a connection and a strong one at that."
"Grandmother, what can we do to help her? Alice loves her like her own, you know of this." Blair was confident in her words, more than I had seen in her stay here. Even if she was scared of all the wolves being around her.
