After two long days of cleaning with the pregnant Beta she wolf bossing us all around the guest quarters were cleaned and prepared for their arrival. I was starting to get giddy about seeing Syn again so soon.
I could lightly feel her excitement through the mate bond. Her wolf was starting to bond with me and it made me happier than I had ever been before. She was going to be all mine, forever and I couldn't wait for it to start.
"Atlas secure the castle. Onyx stay here" Ezra pulled me from my daydreams about my made with a cold expression. His voice was that of a soldier, hard and emotionless.
"What is going on?" I asked him worried about everyone's safety. I eyed him and Atlas who seemed to be in the middle of mind linking someone.
"We got word the camps are on the move, we need to stay vigilant till our alpha's arrival. I have a pod of wolves following them to see where this specific camp is going. It's the largest one the dragons have found as of yet" Ezra curtly responded to me and left the room.
I stood there dumbfounded at the way they were acting. I wanted to follow and protect my pack. However if I left, Syn would have each of their heads served on a silver platter. I watched as they left the house and met up with one of the dragons. He looked angry about something.
Ryder was right. You don't want to cross an angry dragon. I didn't want to imagine Otr mad at anyone after seeing this one.
Atlas noticed me watching from the window and motioned for me to come down. Against my better judgment I walked down the stairs and outside of the guest wings door. It was almost a mirror to the other wing that was used for apartments for the pack members. I would need to explore this side further like I did the other side.
I made my way to their meeting and stood to the side of Atlas "Oh so you had the human come down here. As he should being your, luna"
I rolled my eyes at the dragon "What's the issue?"
"We noticed that the camps we found are packing up and leaving. We're following and hope we can now find their headquarters as the prince has called it. We need to know where they are so we can plan on being on the offensive when the time comes"
"Syn wants to be on the offensive?" I asked, wondering if that's just another thing she had hidden from me.
"It's in case she wants to be. We need to strategize when she returns. Right now we're covering all of our bases for the sake of the world you know" The dragon rolled his eyes, causing a surge of irritation to pass through
"I am her mate, I deserve the same respect you give her. I expect it from everyone she has an alliance with. Even alpha Bane. Now if you will not give it to me I will let your prince know one of his warriors is disrespecting someone he has promised to work with" I spat at him not knowing where the courage came from.
Ezra coughed back a laugh "Whatever he says goes, you know this. Syn will agree with him and you know it."
The dragon huffed "I apologize, I'm not being myself. I think it has something to do with being away from my mate as you call them."
"I can understand that. You guys are doing a good job, keep doing what you are. Let Atlas or Ezra know if there's any updates or changes to their course. Do not attack them yet."
He nodded and shifted back into a green dragon covered on his side was a dark green tree that looked similar to the tree of life in my pa's books. The mark looked like the tattoo he had when he was in human form. I noted that he must have been from the earth tribe that was settled more to the east. At least that's what Clara had taught me so far in our lessons.
Syn
I was met with an embrace from my maternal grandmother, she smelt faintly like vanilla and coffee. My wolf felt calmed in her presence and trusted her and her wolf instantly. My grandfather joined us and pulled Orsan into a hug.
"Welcome home, pups" He said "We missed you before we even knew you existed"
I smiled at him and nodded "How about some food, you must be famished from your journey here"
Ryder nodded excitedly and followed closely behind me and Orsan. His job was to ensure we were safe, my father had ordered him to do so. Now it was to scarf down anything that was placed in front of him. Most likely within seconds of it being there.
We all followed behind them into their dining hall that put the one my father designed to shame.
"So who are you, witch? How do you come into play?" My grandfather said and my wolf growled trying to defend the only mother figure we had ever known.
"Her name is Alice, she is my dad's chosen mate. She has raised me as her own and I expect you to show her respect. She is not the enemy." Davina pushed through protecting Alice even though she didn't need it.
Alice let out a small laugh "She is right, I am married to Evander. Syn might not be blood but to me she is my daughter. She is a strong wolf with a hard bite, try not to anger her would you? She can be a handful sometimes"
My canines retracted and I smiled at her softly. She would always be my mother to me. I silently hoped they wouldn't find my outburst to be too much. We needed their help but as an alpha I didn't like my members being disrespected.
"I apologize Syn. We do not take kindly to outsiders here as you may know" He looked to Alice "Thank you for raising her as your own. If her mother were alive I am sure she would do nothing but thank you for raising her to be so strong"
"Back to not irritating the alpha, please don't. Onyx isn't her to stop her from wolfing out and you do not want to see that" Ryder pleaded with them earning a chuckle from Alice.
My grandmother looked at me shocked "Onyx? Who's that my dear?"
"He is my mate" my heart pinged at the thought of him. I wanted him here more than anything right now.
"Is he a wolf like you?" She asked, not realizing the gravity of her question. Me a powerful alpha wolf mated to a mere human.
"He is a human, grandmother" Orsan answered for me, sensing me being uncomfortable. Clara grabbed my hand and squeezed it under the table.
"Oh a human boy? How interesting" Rafer rolled his eyes and looked at Otr who was visibly getting upset at them questioning me.
I smiled at him and looked at Nissa who was scared out of her mind at the current moment. Otr looked at her and she instantly calmed down. It was sweet that he found what I had with Onyx. He deserved to be happy and he deserved to have a leader by his side.
"So little Nissa found her mate, aye?" My grandfather shifted the attention off me and I thanked him in my head
    "Yes sir, I am Otr-"
"The dragon prince, to be crowned king once your father steps down. Even as the younger brother" He seemed amused by this
"Yes, I plan to take Nissa home with me. She will need to meet my people and be crowned with me as rulers." Otr smiled broadly, feeling proud he found her. His father will be over the moon about it.
"Yes of course, Nissa is a good protector. She comes from a long line, as you have noticed we are a bit different here. Our wolves are more animalistic and primal than those from other packs."
I nodded knowing that it was quite different here compared to any pack I had ever gone to. Ryder looked at Clara who looked a bit uncomfortable being around so much energy. She was learning how to feel auras, but sometimes it just turned on like a light switch.
"And you two are?" My grandmother looked at the pair and seemed entertained by them being taken aback.
"I am Ryder, the gamma. This is Clara, my mate, and the gamma female. Along with being Syn's best friends we help her lead the pack"
"Ah another human" Rafer groaned from his seat and Davina sent him a growl. What was his deal with humans? Not all of them were bad or unnecessary.
"We know about your customs there. Here we have our own alpha and luna, along with protectors. Which would be seen as your beta, gamma, and delta in a regular pack" My grandfather explained. How odd.
"Speaking of our pack" my grandmother looked at me and Orsan "I'm sure you know we need one of you to be our successor. Syn since your mother is older, you have the right to take the throne. Protecting our pack and our humans"
Way to just jump right into the deep stuff right after the introductions. She was honestly bold for it.
I smiled at her shot at Rafer. At least someone here has respect for the history of this pack. I thought it was our job to keep the people here safe and away from the dangers that lurk outside of the barriers.
"I have my own pack to run back home. I cannot just leave them without a leader. Me and Orsan will discuss things and see where his head is." I smiled at them "Either way, you can expect changes once either of us take over"
