Note: I swear, this story hits so close to home. I did have a straight male bestfriend when I was in college. He still has a special place in my heart but that's all we can be.

Beam POV
After working for multiple years in the capital, I was finally accepted as a doctor in the biggest hospital in my hometown in the province. I will be leaving my apartment that was my home in the majority of my professional career in a few days. Unfortunately, I was still not completely packed as I was busy doing my last days in my current workplace.
I was putting away things from my bedroom when I stumbled upon a framed photo...

"...Forth." I touched the photo through the glass. I was instantly transported into the past.

I took up Nursing as my pre-med in college. When I moved to the capital, I lived in a dorm. There, I met my roommate, Forth. Even at first time I saw him, I knew that I was attracted to him. He's handsome with his mocha colored skin and gummy smile. His body was quite chiseled too since he's sporty and liked working out. But I also knew that I had no chance with him because he had a girlfriend, Prae.
At first we weren't really close. We only communicated with nods and smiles. But for me, his gummy smile was enough to alleviate all my stresses in school.
One day, I was surprised that he suddenly sat beside me on my bed. I was so shocked that my brain froze for a few seconds.
Then, he spoke. "Beam, can you lend me some money? I want to go home to our province but I got short."
It's Friday so it's usual for students to go back home for the weekend. "No problem." Then, I handed him a few bills that were enough for his fare.
After that, Forth and I suddenly became close. We began to always eat together and started talking about our lives more. And I learned that he really loves his girlfriend while I was left to keep my feelings for him.
