Chapter-30

(SAM)

"Want to tell me what's going on?" Re said looking at me.

"Nothing is going on" I said looking at my plate.

"Yeah right! You have been chasing away the food round and round in the plate with your fork and spoon since the plate came." She said matter-of-factly.

"I am not hungry." I said still looking at my plate.

"I can see that. I just don't know why?" she said between her bites.

"There is no why. I am just not hungry, that's it." I said.

"If you say so." She said continuing her eating. "Met Katie today?" she ask looking at me, scanning my face. I hate it when she does this. She can read me so easily. Well we are cousins, and friends more, and before they moved away we grew and played together and we have never lost contact, we share each other everything, so it's no big deal that she could read me so well and I can do the same for her.

"Yeah." I said trying hard to control my emotion.

"So what did you talk about?" she asked.

"She's majoring in business." I said still looking at my plate.

"And?" she asked.

"And nothing. Her handsome hunk, her boyfriend showed up." I said frustrated. "And he wanted to know secrets about Kay. Who the hell does he think himself talking like that? And what made him think I would even want to talk to him after what he has done to her at the party? After leaving Katie alone with some drunk psycho? And she didn't even ask me to have lunch with them, her friend did. She didn't stop me. She chose that Nick guy over me. And I couldn't just sit there with them and see them together." I throw my spoon and fork frustrated on my plate with a loud clank.

"I thought you were happy if she was happy with him." She stated.

"Yes I said that but I didn't say I was a saint. I am trying. I am a normal human Re, it's hard for me to see her with another guy and it took every ounce of me not to punch that guy for leaving Katie like that, for not taking care of her. I can't imagine what would have happened that night if I didn't go there." I said raking my hands in my hair.

"Okay. We'll talk about this later. Now we need to get your things before it's dark. So we better get going. And Sam just calm down. We are yet to find out more about that Nick guy. If he is bad news then you got to help Katie, okay."

"Okay, I won't let anyone hurt her and I swear if I find him hurting her again I am going to beat his life out of him." I said fully meaning it.

"Bright day bro" Re said smiling so brightly.

"What's so bright about this day other than your wide smile" I say smiling.

"Well you never know." She sat down beside me with her lunch plate. "First day of college. New girls, new boys, not that you would be interested in either of them. And yes your interesting thing is that you got your own car." She said smiling. "Okay now let's continue our talk of yesterday. You were saying what would have happened to Katie if you didn't arrive at the place at the right time. But now the truth is that you arrived at the place at the right time and saved her. She is fine now. You took care of her. That's the thing so don't think too much on what would have happened."
