I'm falling. Falling through the clouds. The ground is nowhere in sight, and I do flips, turns, and spins as I fall through a thunderstorm. The lightning crackles around me, but I've gotten used to it. Not many people know how to stay calm while thousands of volts of electricity are all around them.
As I begin to see the ground, I turn to face it head-on. I pick up speed and touch a mountain before changing directions and let my wings loose. I circle around the mountain in a downward spiral, landing lightly in the mouth of a cave.
"Hey, look who's back!" My best friend yells back to the rest of the group.
"Nice to see ya, too, Trinity." I say. Everyone's mad at me for staying out for so long.
All my friends and family here come up, and Trinity decides it's a good idea to slap me. Right across my face.
BAM!
She hits the ground, and I apologize and move to heal her. She lets me do so, but only because she knows the mindset I'm in right now.
I had just been on a mission in the human world, and I have to be on my guard there. One human figures out what I am, and everything we've worked for disappears.
I'm the spy for the group. I have the most advanced magic, so I can hide myself better than everyone else in this place. I've learned how to fit in with the humans, who live across the Barrier. I'm the only one who has the ability to cross the Barrier. Once, a human almost wandered through. I saved them from a very gruesome and painful death.
The Barrier reacts to magic, but the magic humans have is just a dusting on their skin from us always being around them. They aren't strong enough to withstand the Barrier's effect. It drains all magic. Humans have gotten used to the magic in the air. They've become dependent on my visits, so I keep going.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I hear someone say. Then, I pass out.
