"Guys! You need to get in a closet!" I hear Isabelle tell from the other side of the house. What?
"Come on." Tomas says in his usual calm manner.
We somehow manage to fit into the closet in my room. It must be a tornado or hurricane warning or something...
"You scared?" He asks me. I notice that I'm shaking, and I bury my face into his shirt. I am scared, I just don't want to tell him. I don't want to look weak, even if I already do.
"It's okay. It's okay to be less than fearless around me." he says.
I almost start crying, right there. Standing in a closet with my adopted brother/boyfriend. Humanity seems really freaky so far. I don't like it much.
But then again, the people are plenty nice. Most of them, at least. Not all of them.
There are bad ones. I hope I never meet one for myself.
Not again, at least.
"You okay?" Tomas asks, waking me from my trance.
"Yeah." I say. I almost cry again.
"You don't look okay." he says. He pulls me into a hug and I just stay there waiting for the storm to pass. It doesn't leave us alone, though.
The power goes out, so me and Tomas sit in the dark. I consider crying for real, I've never had to deal with a storm this bad. I've always just flown above them.
I was already crying, but Tomas was close to tears. that only made me more scared. We might be immortal, but I haven't been here long enough to keep the human race alive. they'll all die if I can't survive this as a human.
If I unleash my true form, I'll leave them alone. I'll be forced to leave. The humans would all die.
I hope it doesn't get too bad.
I look up and Tomas is full-on crying now. This scares us both. Neither of us ever thought we'd be in a situation like this.
"Hey." I say. I hear a noise that sounds almost train-like coming from outside. I doubt the trains are running in this weather. "You okay?" I ask. He's not his cheerful self. that only makes me more scared.
"No." he says "everything here could easily be destroyed. And we could be exposed."
"Yeah, I know we could, but we won't. I know we can make it through this." I say, holding his head like I would a child's.
"How?" He looks up at me with tears streaming down his face. I sure wasn't expecting this.
"Somehow. If I have to,I'll use a bit of magic to keep this thing from hurting anyone."
"You can't!"
"I can, and I will."
"Just don't get yourself... You know..."
"What? Exiled?"
"Yeah..."
I laugh at him "That won't be a problem!"
"Ok. Please, only do that if you have to. I don't want to lose you for even a second."
"Ok."
We both fall asleep. This was far too much for either of us to stand.
