"The food was wonderful." I say to Isabelle, who cooked and is very good at it.
"Thank you!" She says in her over-enthusiastic way. Humans are weird. That's most of my findings so far.
"Well, me and Annika are gonna go talk." Tomas says. They probably just think we're going to get to know each other as siblings, but I need to know who he really is. I need to know how he knows me.
"Can I come?" Lizzy asks.
"I can come play with you later." I say. Gotta keep it cool and normal. Or, what I think is normal.
"Okay!" She yells. Good thing I know a little bit about eight year old human girls.
"You first." Tomas says as we go through the door to my room.
"Annika!" Issy yells from the kitchen.
"What?!" I yell back.
"Do you wanna go shopping later? We can get you new clothes and such." She says as she gets up the stairs and to my door.
"Sure."
She leaves me and Tomas alone to talk, in a well-timed manner.
"Um..." He says, staring at my back.
"What?" I ask and look over my shoulder. "crap!" I try to force my metallic wings into my back, and fail miserably.
"Here, let me help." Tomas says. He gently folds my wings to the point where they're much easier to hide from sight.
"Thanks." I say, sighing as I lay back on my new bed.
"No problem."
"Who are you?" I ask. The question shocks him, leaving him speechless.
"Well... I'm very surprised you haven't figured it out yet..." He rubs the back of his neck, a very familiar nervous habit.
"Are you... Tomas, I'm so happy to see you again!" I almost burst into tears as he hugs me close to his chest.
"It's ok, sweety. We managed to stay near each other." he says. God, that deep voice always gets deeper when he's trying to comfort me.
This was the worst possible time for George to walk in. I was cradled in Tomas's arms like a child, crying on his shoulder. He was whispering reassurances into my ear. Lucky for us, George decided I had been telling him about my time spent in the orphanage.
"Well, that was lucky." I said while George walked back down the hall.
I moved to get up, but Tomas wouldn't let me. He kept me close to him, as if expecting me to continue crying for hours.
"I'm fine!" I laugh at him.
"Ok! Ok! I get it!" He says as I pry his arms off me.
We sit there laughing for what feels like hours before he asks, in that deep, dark tone of his: "should we go downstairs for you and Issy to go shopping?"
It kinda surprised me, but I did need some time away from him to think about what this meant. Some time to think about the fact I need to stay as human as possible, even if it's just an act.
However, even if we live in the same house with the same parents... It wouldn't be wrong to be ourselves. It wouldn't be wrong to be in love. I think it's one of those things I can get away with. I hope.
"Let's go get you some nicer clothes!" Issy says. I look down and realize how terrible I look right now. Good thing I know Tomas doesn't give a crap about my appearance.
"Alright!" I yell, trying my hardest to be as enthusiastic as she is all the time.

If I'm not a good enough writer or not cut out for Wattpad or something, I'll just continue this story without publishing. Thanks for the feedback
