__________ Tally was sick.
He was about the double over and throw up. He knew it.
He watched Nancy. The lifeless way she sat on the ground, face a blank, emotionless void. Eyes rolled into the back of her head and jaw slacked.
The nausea that overcame the boy all of a sudden was beginning to make his eyes water. Or maybe that was just grief. He wasn't sure.
He heard Robin yell his name. He almost pretended he didn't hear, but he decided that ignoring her would be unproductive, so he looked up.
Into the hole that led out of the Upside Down. They had been so close.
"Tally," Robin poked her head through the hole, clearly out of breath. "I was- I thought that- have you tried-"
She had to pause to take a breath. "Getting to Vecna?"
"What?"
"Contacting him, like you can do with El?"
Had she gone mental? Was she insane? Possibly. By now, they all were. But that wasn't the point.
"I can't do that," Tally stated firmly, glancing back and forth between Robin and Nancy.
"We don't really have time to argue right now, Tally," she huffed, annoyed. "It's worth a shot, right? No harm in trying?"
Lots of harm in trying. Tally didn't know how to explain the absolute horrid feeling he already had, he couldn't even imagine how it'd be if he tried to help and... failed.
But for some stupid reason, he nodded. Then he closed his eyes, and let himself pray for a moment.
Tally wasn't really sure if there was a God. If there was, why the fuck did things like this keep happening to him?
But, he determined that he needed all the help he could get, so he prayed.
Focusing was the hardest part. He would have done his Five Things method, though he wasn't sure if he still remembered how to count to 5.
So he sat without counting. Without listening or seeing or hearing. Without feeling or smelling or tasting. Without thinking. He let himself be completely void of all his senses.
For a second, it was almost like it worked.
He felt his consciousness shift. He felt his entire body begun to tingle with the familiar prickling he got in his limbs every time he slept in an odd position.
