When I stepped out again I was in all black, feeling like I was in a Bond movie. I'd picked a shirt, jeans and boots then added a hat as an afterthought. I carried a sling bag and slipped my phone into my pocket.
Warren was in the living room looking dangerous as always in all black. He turned when I entered the room and his eyes raked over me before he smiled. "You look amazing."
I smiled. "We match," I gestured.
He pulled me into his arms. "Am I to suppose my effortless style is finally rubbing off on you?"
I laughed as I shook my head. He pulled me back when I headed towards the door and I turned back curiously. "What?'
"Are you prepared, love?" he asked quietly.
I blew out a breath, psyching myself. "Yeah, sure. Let's do this."
He caught my face between his hands and studied me carefully. "Will you exercise caution for my sake? Will you place your safety above all else?"
I place my hands over his to reassure him. "I already promised. Don't worry, Warren. I'm going to be incredibly selfish and skittish."
He finally smiled. "Skittish, was it?"
"I learned a new word," I sassed and stepped away.
Together we headed out to the elevator and headed down to the underground garage where I was finally going to see a few more of his cars.
When the elevator doors opened, I took a deep breath and gripped the belt of my bag tightly, willing the nerves away.
"Guess I didn't get your text."
I froze and Warren growled lowly at Victor's voice.
"Oh, relax," Victor said, stepping out of the shadows. He pulled back his black hat to reveal that bright hair and stood right in front of us. "You both knew I was coming."
He was dressed in all black looking like a lean burglar and at any other time I'd be laughing my head off at him.
"Victor! What are you doing here? How did you know we were here?"
"Save it," he cut in and turned to Warren. "Strandton. You either plan around me or get in my way."
"You have personal business with them," Warren realized.
"And you can be a distraction or we can work together," Victor pressed.
"You are quite persistent," Warren grumbled, relaxing.
"Wonder where I got it from," Victor smirked, his eyes on me.
I blushed and turned away. "No way. You don't even know our plan –"
"It's a long drive," Victor drawled and walked right behind us.
When Warren sighed and took my hand, I knew he'd given in. What had he seen in Victor's mind?
"So we all good to go then?" Lynn was suddenly next to Victor who threw her an irritated look.
"I don't need your help," he muttered.
"Great. I'll just let Angel know," she replied and pulled out her phone.
We stepped into the garage and the pack looked up as one, then all eyes landed on Warren.
There was a beat of silence then everyone continued preparing.
"Bring some friends, little lady?" Axle asked casually while straddling a bike.
My eyes widened. "Wait, is that a Harley-Davidson sportster?! Seriously?"
