Diluc walked into the Knights of Favonius headquarters, heels clicking on the tiled floors as he made his way to acting-grand master Jean's office. Thoughts swarmed his head.

What was Jean going to say? Would she send Barbara?

If the Fatui were right, what would he tell them? He couldn't fully explain why they had no antedote without explaining how it was meant to harm Kaeya in specific.

What would Jean do if she found out his heritage?

It wasn't Diluc's place to tell her where he was from, it wasn't his place to possibly ruin his life, even if they were on bad terms.

Who would he go to that could help Kaeya?

...Was Jean going to offer to help herself?

Diluc took a deep breath, coming to a halt as he knocked on Jean's office door. She was always here late, so this was the most logical place to look.

"Come in!" He heard a voice—undoubtedly Jean's—say from the other side. He opened the door, stepping inside the room and letting it close behind him. She looked up from her work, looking surprised.

"Sir—" she cleared her throat, "...Diluc. Why are you here so late? Did something happen?" She asked, looking slightly worried. Diluc looked away, he had always had trouble making eye contact in serious situations.

"I came across Kaeya and his knights at a Fatui camp, two of them were dead..and Kaeya was injured. I...can't say how badly, but I don't think he'll be able to come back to work for a while. I brought him to the winery, it was too risky to travel far with him in that state."

Jean looked at the ground in front of him, processing his words before looking back up.
"Two knights came into my office just a few minutes ago to ask for backup, I heard that Captain Kaeya's mission had become...more complicated than I originally assumed. I wasn't aware of any deaths, nor the fact the complication involved the Fatui." She sighed, "I'll have to wait for them to come back and make sure they don't start gossip about Kaeya being missing...do you think he'll need a healer? Barbara is asleep right now, but I have my own knowledge on healing."

Diluc shook his head, "I...I'm not sure, but do you know anybody who may have information on poisons? Or perhaps someone who could create an antidote?" He asked, hoping it wouldn't raise too much suspicion from her.

"Was he—was he poisoned?" Jean asked, expresion noticeably more concerned.

"I'm not sure. I was told he was by one of the Fatui, she could have been lying, but I'm still unsure of what she spilled on him...it would be helpful if someone could identify the components so we knew what it does." He explained, expression calm but heart raising. What if he accidentally said too much? Jean had paused for just a moment to long, and the silence was ringing in Diluc's ears,  amplifying his anxiety about the situation.

Then, finally, she spoke.

"I believe Albedo could be of some assistance to you, last I saw them, they were in the library...but it was a couple hours ago, they might've left by now." She told him, and Diluc let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding, a small smile appearing on his face, just barely noticeable .

"Thank you, Jean...I'll update you on the situation when I can." He gave her a nod, before turning and heading out.

...To the library it was, then.

He silently hoped Albedo was still there...if not, he would just have to ask Lisa if she knew they were going.

And if she didn't ? He felt something in the back of his mind ask, and he felt another pang of anxiety.
