Again? I ask myself. "May I be excused?" I ask my mom, dropping my fork onto my plate. I hear the metal clanging against the glass. I feel bile rising up in my throat. "Y/n, you've barely have eaten a thing!" I hear her exclaim. She's sitting right next to me, though she sounds like she's miles away.
"I-I'm just not hungry." My head is pounding. I can't take it anymore. I run to the bathroom, excusing myself. "Y/n!" I hear dimly from the dining room. I throw open the lid of the toilet and empty my dinner from my stomach. My knees give away and I fall to the floor.
"Y/n!? " my parents appear at the doorway. I turn my head to them slowly. "What happened!? Are you okay?" My mother crouches to my side. I feel myself slipping away. The last thing I see before I black out is the worried expression on my mother's face.

We sit in a room. A white walled room. With a white desk. And a white chair. And a white counter with white cupboards. And a white examination table. With a bright, white light overhead giving everyone headaches. We sit and wait. And wait. And wait.
I feel like I could pass out again at any moment. My mother is nervously pacing the room while my dad sits in the white chair. I sit on the examination table. We all wait for the results. We wait. And wait. And wait.
The door finally opens. The nurse thar preformed the tests and two others doctors enter the room. They all have clipboards. My mom stops paying and looks directly at the nurse. "The tests results are in." She says, fidgeting with her pencil. My mother gives her questioning looks. This moment will decide my future.
"I'm sorry, they came back positive"
My mother starts crying and my father trying to console her. I just look down. I already felt sick. Now I just feel worse. My parents come and embrace me. We all just stand there, taking in the information.
I officially have cancer.

3 months later
"Mom! I can't just stay here! I need to get my school supplies" I try arguing with her but it's no use. I got out of the hospital yesterday. There's no way they are going to let me go to school. Even if they could let me they wouldn't, it's the doctors decision.
After my treatments, check ups and medicine courses I'm still battling cancer. I have a mix of a couple types of cancer and viruses. Because I was already sick for a year before they diagnosed me, it will take longer to get rid of all the toxins in my body. There's a high chance I won't make it. I'm still feeling the same way I felt before the treatments, honestly a little worse.
"Y/n, you haven't even been cleared to go to school! Plus, your school is far away and you stay there during the school year. I don't think I'll feel comfortable letting you go by yourself." I groan and roll my eyes. "I'm feeling better!" I say.
I lied.
"And you can tell Madame Pomfry everything. She can be the one to give me my treatments" I explain. I'm a witch born into a muggle family, my mother and father understand everything, but they still don't understand that we have nurses too.
"If your doctor clears you, we'll think about it" She gives in. "Thank you thank you thank you!!!" I give her a quick hug and run upstairs. Bad idea. My knees are trembling by the time I reach the top. Curse my weak body! I slowly walk the rest of the way to my room, my legs shaking.
I can't wait to see all my friends! Fred and George Weasley are my best friends at Hogwarts. They are also Hogwarts best pranksters, so I have become their test subject multiple times over the years. I haven't had time to respond to any of their letters when I was in the hospital so I thought I'd check them now.
I open George's letters first, wanting to save Fred's for last. Even though I have a strong friendship with both of them, Fred and I have always been closer in some ways.
Dear y/n,
How have you been! We've been good. Me and Fred have come up with new products for our future joke shop. I bet you can't wait to try them. See you at school I guess!
- GeorgeI close the letter back up and open Fred's letter. I smile as I read the first line
Hello dearest, stupidest, most annoying best friend in the world (Aka, y/n).
I can't wait to see you! Our mum says you can come and spend the last two weeks before school at the Burrow with us and get your school supplies with us too. That is, if , your mother agrees. I hope you can! See you soon y/n!
- FreddieI close the letter and grab a quill and parchment to start writing my own letters. And then I realize, what am I supposed to tell them? I could tell then the truth. But I won't. I won't allow myself to be the sick girl. I am y/n and I am the same as last year. I am the same person.
At least I will act like it.
