The Yule Ball

It was the day of the ball and everyone all day couldn't stop talking.  Boys asking girls at the last minute, older students helping the 4th years pick out dresses, and nervous kids lining the halls , waiting for classes to be over. Hermione and Ginny helped me pick out the perfect dress and tonight's we were going to do each other's hair. After all the classes were over everyone immediately rushed up to their dorms to get ready. I hadn't seen Fred and George all day so I waited in the common room but the never showed. I walked upstairs and started reading with Hermione until a couple hours before the dance.

She was reading a muggle book I lent her and I was re-reading one of my favorite muggle books, The Pawn of Prophecy. Me and Hermione didn't understand why girls were already getting ready when there were 6 hours until it begun.  So we just read and talked while the hours flew by. I looked up from my book and saw Hermione I deep concentration. I giggle, "so, you like the book?" She looks up at me. "Yes! I love it!! When can I have the next one?" She asks. "When you finish the first one." I reply. She shows me the 30 pages she has left and I dig the sequel out of my trunk for her.

"Hermione?" I ask as I sit back down on the bed. "Hmm?" She responds, half listening, half reading. "What do you think tonight will be like?" I ask her. I had given up on the idea that something bad was going to happen,  everything has been fine and honestly,  my health has never been better. "I think it's going to be amazing!" She says, a dreamy look on her face. "This is the first actual date I've ever had. It's going to be fun." She says. I know ow that she was kind of hoping Ron would ask her, I'm not blind, but I thought it would be a good idea not to bring it up. I turned back yo my book and we kept on reading to our hearts content.

It was 7:00, and we had an hour until the ball officially begins. Ginny, Hermione, Parvati, Katie, Alicia and Angelina all looked beautiful in their dresses. I wasn't too sure about mine but all the girls reassured me I looked great.
