Oxygen

Chapter 1

" Yes, yes I know Brandy I'm on my way now, Yes I'm literally out the door as we speak." I say through the phone. I unlock my car and get into the drivers seat.

" Okay, well Jo and Callie are almost here then we'll leave when you get here." Brandy told me " Okay, I'm backing out now. " I say backing up into the street hanging up.

I live in New York City now. I moved here about a year ago with Jo and Brandy. I've just recently moved out into my own place, yes it's small, but its perfect for me.

Today I get a day off from the bakery shop I work at, Aunt Millies. Millie is the sweetest old women I've ever met. She' s amazing. She gave me a day off today so Jo, Brandy Callie and I decided to go to the beach. Its about an hour drive. But I'm excited. I'm not much of a fan of road trips but it's just an hour.

I then see my old apartment also known as Jo and Brandy's place and pull into a parking spot.

I send Jo a text telling her I'm outside. " Okay, we're coming down" she replies

I look up from my phone and come in contact with something hard. " Ow" I look up. To come face to face with a man with beautiful green emerald eyes and a perfect jawline. Long legs and torso. Curly hair that's styled just the right way. He was breathtaking.

" Oh gosh, I am so sorry. I should have been watching where I was standing." i apologized. He chuckled, making me feel even more embarrassed. I look at him confused, " what?" I ask

" Watch where you were standing?" he smiled "No love, I apologize I was not watching where I was walking therefore I bumped into you."

His raspy voice was clouding my head " Oh, well then I accept your apology." I smiled

He laughed and looked up at me
" May I ask your name?" He asked
" It's um Scarlett " I answer

" Well its um Scarlett I'll see you around" He says slowly turning and walking away

" Scarlett!" Jo yelled. " Sorry we took so long we got held up" Jo said

" Yeah and by held up she means a hot guy downstairs was flirting and she just had to talk to him" Brandy laughs

" Well I'm sorry for being a nice person" Jo says back

Callie turns to Jo smirking " Oh so that's what you call it now" Callie says

I can't help but smile at them " No, no no." I say " She's called it that ever since grade 1. " I laugh

" Whatever Jo remarks " Lets just get in the car and go to the beach." Brandy yells " Come on girls we're gonna go to a beach party and dance our asses off!"

Beach party ? I thought we were just going to the beach? No one said anything about a party?

We finally got to the beach after about an hour. I guess Brandy has some friends up here so that's where we're gonna crash tonight. I hope this party isn't that crazy.

We get out of the car and see the beautiful beach, who ever threw this party really out done themselves. There are lights going around the beach house. There are coolers sitting out, probably full of beer. A drinking stand that has light around it that literally looks like it's from a movie. Then a dj. Right in the middle of it all.

And to top it all off there was the water with people dancing and laughing and swimming. " Well girls, what are we waiting for, lets go!" Jo yells

Jo and Brandy have always been good at these things, parties, socializing. I've never been that great at these kind of things. I walk with them to the bar stand and we all get a drink. I'm suddenly pulled onto the dance floor by Callie who's singing along to the song lyrics.

I cant help but laugh. She grabs my hands swaying us back and forth. " Ha. Wow Callie you should be a dancer." I try to yell over the music. But she couldn't hear me. She just kept trying to get me to dance. " No, I objected. " I can't dance." I said shaking my head laughing

" Come on, she says " Let go!"
I finally caved in and started swaying my hips to the sound of the music. We're dancing together and its when Brandy and Jo come dance with us too that I let go. I actually let go. I smile

I feel hands snake around my waist and turn around to see a guy I've never seen before. The regular me would have turned around and slapped him. But I love this song and I wanna dance and quite frankly I'm suppose to be letting go. And That's exactly what I'll do.
