"Alex, look!"
Alex turned in the nick of time, rolling away from a vicious thrust at her chest. A brilliant plasma beam suddenly breezed past her like a sudden rush of wind, engulfing the shadow Night Bird completely.
Nothing was left behind.
Similarly, a red beam quickly swallowed up the shadow Night Bird engaging Sam in battle, dissipating it into non-existence. One of the other three WOOHP agents with blasters- a woman with blue braided locks waved at Sam, winking.
Sam made a gesture of gratitude, letting out a breath.
"Nearly let my guard down just now as well."
"Come on!" Kennedy ran past her at that moment, waving his hand. "We have to get the others!"
"Agents, spies- state your positions!" May Richie's voice surged into Alex's earpiece as she followed the others with Kennedy in the lead. "We have shadow clones of that assassin running around! We're getting outnumbered here like crazy! What happened at the second gate?!
"I'm afraid there's no time to explain at the moment- We're on the way, Miss May!" answered Sam. "Are you with the prime minister and Saraline?"
"Of course, I am!" replied May. She paused, as the sound of yelling and lasers were heard from her end. "Mr. Peller, how are the agents holding up outside?"
"They're doing fine, thank God- good lads with their weapons, but these clones are like evil spawns from a weird cavern capture game gone wrong," replied Mr. Peller. More lasers were heard from his own end, massive yelling and groaning like someone had taken a huge hit. "Damn- let's see you handle lasers, stupid clones! They're a lot- might have to move The Prime and his daughter while we still have the chance to!"
"Alright, okay- spies, agents, meet us at the library. There's a secret library we can take to get there."
"Alright, Miss May," said Alex. "How about Wesley and his friend? We've not heard from them since we left the alone upstairs."
"We're fine!" Nicole announced over the line, breathing deeply. From their end, lasers could also be heard for a moment before there was utter silence. "We just came back from surveying the area. Dang, this guy is good- took out the right guards we had overseeing the premises and we weren't aware."
"Power's also out until we can get a repairman," said Wesley. "And please can someone explain to me why there are dark copies of that assassin roaming the building like it's a haunted mansion? We've encountered a handful- took them out immediately."
"Long story," said Kennedy. "Are you guys clear?"
"Seems like it," answered Wesley.
"What's your location?" asked Miss May.
"Further down the same hallway we were when the missiles were launched and this whole fiasco began," answered Nicole.
"Alright, get to the library as fast as you can," said May. "That's where we'll meet- hurry!"
"Miss May- who are you talking to?!" Saraline's voice was suddenly heard in the background. The line was suddenly silent- Wesley, Nicole and Kennedy didn't dare to speak. "Is it Wesley and Kennedy? How are they? How about the spies?"
"They're all fine, dear," said Miss May. "Go back to your dad and tell him to get ready. We're leaving immediately- this place isn't safe anymore."
"Fine," Saraline huffed.
