Sam and Clover rushed out of the surveillance room in a frenzy.
They had been unsettled for the past few minutes since Alex told them the culprit was around. They heard a ruckus and decided to check up on their friend.
As they turned the next corner, they ran right into someone, all three of them crashing onto the ground.
Sam and Clover stood up and looked down at Alex, who groaned.
"ALEX!"
They held onto Alex and sat her up.
"Where's the guy?! Did you manage to spot him again?!" Sam asked.
"I did," Alex replied. "But he's not here now."
"Alright, I think we've done enough investigating. Let's go get back to the others," said Clover.
Just then, Sam and Clover heard footsteps up ahead. They held Alex back and stood before her, their hands itching towards their backpacks.
"Girls, relax. There's nothing to be afraid about." Alex assured. "They're with us."
The two looked back at Alex in surprise then looked forward. Kennedy and Wesley stepped forward, their visors in their hands, providing a faint light.
Wesley grunted, as he still carried the mini aero cannon, now strapped to his back. "Dang, I keep forgetting how heavy this thing is."
Wesley looked up, smiling as he noticed Sam and Clover. "Oh, good to see you girls are doing well."
Sam and Clover just stared back at him, then gazed at Kennedy.
Kennedy developed a small smile, nodding his head.
"There's nothing here to explain, is there?"
The girls shook their heads.
"Great. Now are you done here? We followed you here as backup. Unauthorized, I may add." Kennedy glanced over at Wesley.
"I know, I know. But it's a good thing we did, wasn't it?" Wesley couldn't hide his smirk.
Kennedy shook his head but smiled. He turned to Sam. "So? We're done here?"
"Yeah. And even if we aren't, I don't want to take any chances with the possibility of that guy being around."
Kennedy nodded, understanding what she meant.
Kennedy and Wesley escorted the girls out of the building, with their masks back on. Only when Sam, Alex and Clover had gotten into the vehicle waiting for them outside the Royal Botanical Gardens did they go their own way, soaring high into the skies.
"This mission couldn't have gotten crazier," said Alex in a low tone once they started to drive away.
"So the nephew of the Prime Minister, as well as his daughter's boyfriend are...secret agents," Clover held her chin, smirking a bit. "That would be quite an interesting story."
"You would think they would have been found out by now, considering how known the Prime Minister is," said Sam.
On their return to the private lodging, Sam, Alex and Clover had to stop about a street away, while the car took another route.
They took a hidden shortcut and made their way through the tunnel that led to the resort.
They met May at the gates, with a few guards.
Sam, Alex and Clover had changed into normal guard attire to avoid curious gazes all the way back.
"How did the task go, ladies?" May asked.
