Flame out, burn, consume everything

Charred remains of hope

Yet something breathes and something grows

Beneath the blackened earth

Heartbeat

Something tipped in red—

Heartbeat

Catching root, about to sprout

Heartbeat

An omen, good or bad unknown

Heartbeat

Only time can tell

It looks poisonous

But let it close, let it in

No, it's dangerous

All's well that ends well

Stop, I can't breathe

Relax, pull it closer

It doesn't want to—

Inhale.

Exhale.

Slow and soothing

Something new, yet ancient

Something unknown but discovered

Yes, you knew this

Beauty, this danger (challenge!)

Let it let you become

Break away from the chains that bind you

Let me set this down

Tend to the red-tinged sprout

Let me give it life

It's wounded. Let me heal it

You cannot heal it with me

STAY BACK! You can't

I can do this, so there's no

Why am I so warm? It hurts

Everything else is cold

I should be freezing to adapt

Why can't I be cold?

I can't, because I have to tend to

Even if it kills me

You can't save me and you wouldn't if you could

I try to pull myself up, but there's

Lava... why is there lava?

It's all around me GET THE SPROUT

Hold it up, make sure it's safe

It can't help that it's causing this lava

I won't let you drown

I won't let you burn

I don't think it could consume you

But I'll protect you anyway, so please

Please just hold my little plant

It was buried for so long

Doesn't it deserve the open air

Don't you?

Don't you want the open air

And peace under the stars?

As tears drip off my face

They touch the lava and it cools
It's just hot water

I can... I can navigate this

I can swim, even in the fiercest waves

Set the plant down now

Let it float
It leads us to the land we'll know

And we can rest

Before the work begins

Just close your eyes....
