Going Home

Warning: Attempted suicide. Not really, but sort of. Thought I should probably warn you, just in case. Okay, now you can read!

"Jane..." Leo's pained whisper trailed off. He bolted upright, his forehead beaded in sweat, eyes wild as he looked around the alley like a cornered animal. 

The night terrors hadn't lessened at all over the last months; her death still hit him as hard as ever. He shook with repressed sadness, not wanting to let the pain through the mask. It'd surely break him down into nothing. 

"Why? Why did you leave me?" He sobbed, burying his face in his hands. He was in terrible shape.

He had tried to kill himself several times, but a group of girls were always there to stop him. When he jumped off a bridge, a girl caught him near the bottom. When he tried to quit eating, another was there to coax food into him. When he attempted cutting, the leader melted down the knife and sat with him through the night.

They were always around, stroking his hair and whispering nothings into his ear to help ease the pain. It helped only a little, when their light, feathery voices helped him drift into dreamland, where Jane had never died and they were still together.

But it all seemed wrong, the images darkened and sagged around the edges. Because they weren't real; they were made up pictures of a future he'd never have, a past too painful to relive. 

The leader, Nya, sat with him now. "Leo Valdez, you have spent too long away from home. Go back. Your friends miss you, and wonder what became of your life. They all believe you died. Prove them wrong. Show them you are stronger then they ever could be."

Nya disappeared in a cloud of dark blue smoke.

Leo slowly lifted himself onto his feet. Staggering, he went in the direction of Camp Half-Blood.

Of home.

Wow. First chapter, and I've already got a good idea of the end. You are all SO going to hate me.
