"So, you and Keita were lovers in the past?"
After they got out of the convenient store, Yoshinori offered to walk Yunhee home, but Yunhee still doesn't want to. With that, Yoshinori decided to be with her until she feels like going home.
"Yeah," Yunhee briefly responded. "We started in sixth grade and lasted for over five years."
Yoshinori choked on drinking from the can of beer after hearing what Yunhee have said. The girl looked at him in worry while gently rubbing his back.
"You good?" asked Yunhee.
Yoshinori only nodded before grabbing a chip from the bag in between them. They are seated on the bench with the view of the river in front of them.
"So," Yoshinori began as he cleared his throat. "May I know why did you two separate? I mean, if it is okay for you to answer."
Yunhee let out a chuckle before saying, "It just happened, but we separated in good terms. It was like, we don't deserve each other. At least, we are happy even now."
Letting out a soft hum, Yoshinori sipped from the can of beer once again. They sat in silence once again, but Yunhee had the courage to ask this time.
"What about you? Have you been in a relationship before? Or like, fell in love─you know what I mean."
The question ringed on Yoshinori's head. He wants to answer it in order to be fair, but another side of him doesn't want to because he knew that he'll break down in front of Yunhee.
Nonetheless, he took out the polaroid that he always have with him. He then showed it to Yunhee, enough for the girl to clearly see.
"I know you've seen it already, but there she is," said Yoshinori with a small smile. "We've known each other for fifteen years. Well, only if she's still here."
Retracting her gaze on the polaroid, Yunhee spared a confused look towards Yoshinori. "What do you mean by that?"
"She's gone. Literally buried six feet below the ground," Yoshinori stated, eyes never leaving the photo. "If only I was with her at that time, she would still be here by now."
Yunhee mumbled an apology to Yoshinori, but the boy said that it's fine and it doesn't affect him that much now. Yoshinori continued to talk about her, and Yunhee saw how the boy is so into his past lover. It lasted for long, but Yoshinori pushed his lips together and started to rub his knees using his palms.
"Are you okay?" Yunhee asked out of worry.
Yoshinori started to shake his head, trying to drop the dizziness that is causing for his vision to get blurry. "It's just the alcohol," he tried to say.
Yunhee then grabbed the can of beer that Yoshinori bought with him. It was nearly finished, almost empty when she held it. There she saw, the amount of alcohol on that beer is extremely high.
"Why did you even buy this when it is above your tolerance?" the girl asks with an unapproved look on her face.
Yoshinori only let out a huff and snatched the can out of Yunhee's grip. He finished the remaining liquid inside the can and smiled proudly after. "See? I finished it!" he cheered.
Barely seeing Yoshinori's bright side, Yunhee admired on the way that the boy cheered after finishing his can of beer. His cheeks are so fluffy that she wanted to pinch them.
"You said that you'll walk me home, but it seems the other way now," stated Yunhee while picking up the empty bag of chips and the can of beer on the bench. She then threw them on the trash can and looked at Yoshinori's state once again.
"I can fucking walk on my own, Jang Yunhee," Yoshinori whispered lowly and stood up. Two steps forward, and he almost fell.
"Just sit down, will you?" Yunhee told him as he pulled him back down to sit on the bench. "I'll call Yunseo to pick us up."
"No! Don't call him!" Yoshinori whisper-shouted with a grip on Yunhee's arm. "He might think that I snuck you out of your house at this hour."
"Probably, he would think that way, but we have no choice."
"Please, don't call him."
"Then give me a reason why should I not call him."
"Yunseo would beat the shit out of me if he knew that I like you."
Yunhee blinked for a few times, making sure that she heard that right. He looked down at Yoshinori who is still gripping onto her arm whilst seated on the bench.
"What did you say?" asked Yunhee, trying to clarify if Yoshinori really said those words.
"Yunseo asked for me to stay away from you because I am putting you in danger," Yoshinori pouted. "But I just can't because I like you too much."
The boy looked up, meeting Yunhee's trembling gaze. His dizziness went off as he met her eyes, making him to see her face clearly up above. Yoshinori started to caress her arm using his thumb, trying to make her comfortable.
"I wanna kiss you so bad, Jang Yunhee," Yoshinori mouthed out in whisper. "It's like I am craving for blueberries coming from your lips."
Yunhee immediately slid off Yoshinori's hand on her arm. "You are drunk, so stop messing with me. I am now calling Yunseo to pick us up."
With trembling hands, Yunhee tried her best to scroll through her phone contacts and clicked on Yunseo's number. After two rings, Yunhee was pulled down by Yoshinori on the bench. After a few more rings, the call was picked up by Yunseo.
Also, Yoshinori's lips are on Yunhee, savouring the taste of blueberries on her lips.
"Why are you even calling me on the phone when your room is just next to mine?" asked a sleepy Yunseo on the other line. "Hello? Yunhee? I swear if you are playing games on me─why aren't you in your room? Where the hell are you at this hour? Jang fucking Yunhee, why aren't you speaking a single word?"
That was Yoshinori's cue to break the kiss. "Pick us up by the riverside, Yunseo. I'm a little bit tipsy, so I can't secure Yunhee's safety if I walk her home alone."
"Kanemoto?!" Yunseo shrieked. "And 'tipsy'?! Did you two drink on a club?! I'm going to fucking kill you─"
"Just shut the hell up and get your ass here," Yoshinori lowly said before ending the call. He then pulled Yunhee down on him, making her sit on his lap. "Where were we? Oh, I remember now."
Yunhee could not utter a single word. Her heart is beating at a fast pace, hammering against her chest. The smell of alcohol on Yoshinori makes their position more intoxicating than ever.
"I'm not drunk, really," the boy chuckled. "I like you so much and I wanted to ask you out. Whether you would say yes or even reject me, I would still accept that with my whole heart."
She doesn't know what to answer. Yunhee could feel and hear the sincerity on Yoshinori. But still, the alcohol that corrupted Yoshinori's system is doubting her.
From afar, two pair of eyes were watching Yoshinori and Yunhee. They were already following them after getting out of the convenience store earlier.
"If it's okay with you, we can use Yunhee to take down Yoshinori."
"We can't just drag innocent people on our business, Yedam."
"Keita, I know you still care for her, but she is Yoshinori's greatest weakness as of now. Let's just make sure she doesn't get hurt."
"I'll think about it," Keita mumbled, watching the two from afar.
