I opened my eyes to a bright light. Was I alive? Yes. I still felt the pain on my neck.

 'Sweetheart, you're awake! Tom! Nathan!'

Was that Mum yelling? Slowly, my vision cleared and I could make out Mum's heart shaped face and her hazel eyes. With the light around her, she looked angelic.

'Grace!' My whole family said and gathered in front on me, around the bed.

They carried on mumbling but I didn't really pay attention. My mind was still hazy. I looked around the small cubicle I was in. There was a beeping machine behind a blue chair but I couldn't see anything beyond the grey curtain that surrounded us.

Suddenly, the curtain opened and a tall man walked in, wearing chinos with blue scrubs. I recognised him as Doctor Branning from the last time I was in here. 'She's fine. Don't worry,' he turned to face me. 'Second time, in only a few weeks. Hope I don't see you anytime soon,' he said and walked away.

'Grace, we were so worried! I'm so glad you're okay. If anything happened to you...' Dad trailed off, shaking his head at the idea and kissed me on the top of my head.

'Sis, I'm telling you now, you never used to seek attention like this before,' Tom said with a sad smile as he sat down beside me on the bed.

'Sorry Tom,' I croaked. It hurt to speak. My voice sounded rough and rusty.

He bent down, resting his head on my shoulder for a moment then kissed my cheek. 'Don't be sorry. You're the best little sister in the world, you know?'

'I know. Shame I can't say you're the best big brother in the world.' Despite the pain I was able to speak. For a moment I closed my eyes as I tried to recall what happened. 'Who... who bought me here?'

'A young man found you then bought you straight here. He didn't give his name, he left after the doctors gave the okay. We just missed him. I wish I could thank that man and kill whatever bastard did this to you.' He sounded so angry, the wrinkles round his eyes more prominant as he frowned.

'Grace, do you know who attacked you?' Tom asked.

I nodded my head. 'It was the new girl, Annabelle. She moved in across the road so I took her to the bus stop and showed her around college' I coughed, struggling to speak. 'On the way back home she asked me to take her to the park. She went crazy and started strangling me. Then she was gone- I don't know how. After, I think I passed out.'

'I don't think that house has been bought yet. But the police are here to talk to you. Tell them everything you know and I promise they'll catch that psycho,' Mum promised.

Police? I didn't want to talk to them. As much as I wanted that freak locked up, I didn't want to mention my dream. They' think I was lying and that I'm as bad as her. Maybe it's best to miss that part out. After all how could it help them find her? It wouldn't help the investigation but fuck it up. Anyway, I can't be asked with this bullshit. It was just one problem after another and I wasn't willing to add fuel to the fire.

 ***

I laid in my bed in Julian's arms. Mum and Dad were letting him spend the night for the first time because of what happened. Tom, however was pissed, he kept coming in and checking up on us, sometimes he insisted that we left the door wide open, claiming that he knew what goes on in the mind of young boys.
